Description
The Forgotten Realms Archives - Collection Three marks the conclusion of the Archives compilation and a change in development from Strategic Simulations Inc. to Dreamforge Intertainment. As SSI’s swan song to the Forgotten Realms universe, these titles celebrate the elements of the AD&D video games that you know and love - vast dungeons and beautiful locations to explore, a wide variety of monsters to slay, quests to complete, adventurers to assemble and worlds to be saved. These titles were a worthy conclusion to one of role-play gaming’s most defining series and will be a fine addition your games collection. This final collection contains Dungeon Hack and Menzoberranzan

Dungeon Hack Built using the Eye of the Beholder engine, Dungeon Hack offers a randomly generated, RPG, Dungeon Crawler experience like no other. Explore countless new dungeons in a game that never has to be the same twice. Send your character on quest after quest, down through the many pits, traps, and puzzles that Dungeon Hack has to offer. This game delivers many combinations of play, a variety of magical and non-magical items to be found in each game and a bestiary stocked with over fifty formidable foes! For the more daring among you, Dungeon Hack also offers a Roguelike option, making death a far more definitive conclusion to your adventure. Menzoberranzan While resting in Icewind Dale, members of your party have been captured by the evil Drow. To make matters worse, they have been taken underground, deep to where the Drow reign supreme. Descend and rescue your comrades, but be warned: Your fate and that of the famed Drizzt Do'Urden will become entangled - and your rescue mission will take on a whole new meaning!

Welcome to the realm called Underdark and the malevolent city of Menzoberranzan. Prepare yourself for a role-playing epic unlike any you've ever experienced in the Forgotten Realms game world. New monsters abound. New tactics make combat more intense. The ability to levitate and fly add even more excitement to battles! The spectacular sights and sounds of the Menzoberranzan game are exhilarating. This fresh and unique AD&D game promises to be the most challenging role-playing journey through the Forgotten Realms game world yet!
  • A wide variety of monsters to slay, quests to complete and regions to save
  • Assemble a party of the world’s finest clerics, warriors, thieves and more
  • Immerse yourself in the depth and richness of Dungeons & Dragons campaigns and the Forgotten Realms Universe
  • Hours of replayability with Dungeon Hack’s randomly generated dungeons

nostalgia is best left in the past

This is pretty poor - the graphics glitched (at least I think it was a glitch) and I could barely see anything as the drow blended into the backgroud apart from their blond hair - as I was pursued through the burning town by disembodied flowing blond locks, I decided that this was a trip to nostalgia lane that should never have been taken.

Dungeon Hack -fail

Hi, I know that there are a lot of positive reviews about Dungeon Hack but please listen to these points as well: (I will not repeat the positive things, since many review already mentioned them.) 1. there is only one caracter in Dungeon Hack. It is definitely a disadvantage compared to the great classics like EOB. But there is also a big problem with this. If you create a e.g. cleric you will find items for clerics. So you will feel that the plenty of maces and staves have been put there by somebody just for you. It can riun the spirit, the feeling. It is not realistic that there is a boss, waiting only for your caracter. Why could not find my cleric any e.g swords? How did the creators of the dungeon know that a cleric and not a fighter will come to defeat them? 2. All of the levels are very schematic, there are no reason at all why this or that room or hall is there. In EOB the maps were designed. Here they are just generated. E.g. you will know that there is an illusionary wall just because something is missing from tha map and all of the levels have a rectangle shape so there most be a room. How dull. 3. But who is this guy who built this dungeon? A big evil? No -it is you. This is the main point of the game. In a certain meaning it could be an advantage, since you can customize it as you wish, but where is the surprise in it? If you know for sure that there will not be undeads, pits, water,... where is the excitement, the curiosity? 4. So the questions are: who changed all of the e.g. swords for maces directly for my cleric? Who created this dungeon? Yes, you. So who I defeate at the end? Yes, yourself. Not exciting. To summarize: very poor levels since they are not designed like in e. g. EOB but just generated, and there is no story at all (in EOB you could meet a tribe of dwarves who has reason to be there, NPCs with a backgroud story (even with simple story but at least something) could join your team, but in this game you just create a dungeon what you know more than the boss in it and then defeate youself. Poor. I think it could be good for those people for who the big classic ones of the genre were too difficult so they can switch of those elements and be proud of themselves. (If you vote down this review claiming that it is not useful I will know that you are in this category :-) )
