This game is a certified banger when you just want to waste some time on the go. The graphics are good enough on the small screen, the physics are entertaining, the music is cool, the battery lasts forever. Just spend some time configuring the button mapping and that's it.
But I can see how if you take the game too seriously it can become annoying due to all the issues already mentioned in the other critical reviews.
For 2005 this game is pretty impressive with it's physics and car damage engine. It's a little tricky to get running correctly on a modern system but with the proper research you can figure it out. Setting up controls for a controller is a little tricky, I have Accelerate and Decelerate set to the triggers like most modern racing games, those count as up and down in the menus, slightly inconvenient but nothing you can't get used to.
This game runs smooth as butter on anything but the absolute most potato-computer setups. Basically anything made in the last 15 years should have no trouble playing this game at maximum settings
FlatOut 2 is superior in every way. Driver launching is hypersensitive, crashing into fences and cones slows you down so much it's counter-intuitive to actually build boost when it builds so slowly. It's best to just bump into opponents and use shortcuts the AI cannot comprehend. Just drive clean!
