A real "Flashback" to the past ;)

Loved the game when it came out on pretty much all the different platforms (except SNES, it just doesn't seem right). My first experience was playing on my cousin's Amiga version and I've loved it ever since. Think a 90's sci-fi Prince of Persia type game and your very close. This game is well made, well thought out, still fun after all these years, and THIS is a good version of it. Totally better than the 'remake' that was released a few years ago that just lacked the spirit of the original. THIS captures that magic again. The ambient noise, the music that pipes in then goes away, the choice of shirts (nice touch), those cool 'polygon' like cutscenes that evoke Another World (another game Delphine were famous for in the 90's and this game spiritual predecessor) its all here folks. Saw this on sale on PS4 in a collector's edition, ordered a copy on Ebay, saw this version on here, bought this version and got the physical copy still wrapped up on the shelf ;). Just turn off those filters. I like the new sounds but I do like my pixels unfiltered lol. But I do appreciate the option. Recommended for young and old.

Ruined by bad controls

This game would be great fun but the poorly laid out controls just ruined it for me. Given this is a remake they should have allowed you to remap them. Instead of focussing on game play you need to concentrate on which keys to press in sequence in order to perform a really basic move. Not sure if I can persevere beyond the first few screens as the controls are just too frustrating.

lazy port of an otherwise fantastic game

I love Flashback, one of my favorite games growing up and i still love this game. I love cinematic platform genre games such as "Prince of Persia", "Another World", "Oddworld". Flashback feels like what if "Total Recall", "Blade Runner" and "Aliens" into a blender, you get this epic labor of love, cool sci-fi action/adventure game. I played few versions of "Flashback": MS-DOS, Sega Genesis, Sega CD and 3DO. despite my nostalgia for the MS-DOS version, the Sega CD version is my favorite version, despite they change the original rotoscoped animated cutscenes to outdated 90's CGI FMV, the game has level music! not just background ambience like all the other versions and voice acting!. Something that even the powerful 3DO doesn’t have which is head scratching. when i heard that Flashback i getting another remaster i was a bit skeptical since flashback remake from 2013 is hot garbage. this port made by a small team as Microids and despite they did some OK games, they're most well-known for acquiring dead IP'S and remastering them on modern consoles to mixed results as far as I know. they could have done something amazing for flashback, making the best version possible, taking the best from both worlds adding level music and voice acting, add exclusive levels or even dlc, but nope all we got is a Sega genesis port with some "new" features, almost all of them are your typical retro style options for old games that gets remastered: ugly filter's, scan lines, crt tube effect and bloom, who in their right mind put bloom effects in a remaster!?, of course i turn all of them off and believe it or not this remaster has technical issues as well (at least on PC) in this day in age. the only positives are the “rewind” feature that make the game less frustrating. but overall just play any other version of this game, The Sega CD is the best way to play it in my opinion.

Great visuals, horrid single keybind.

I recall seeing my brother play this back in 1993 on SNES. I was too young to play anything at the time and now i finally decided to try it. This remaster could've easily been alot better. Pros: Adequate choice of graphics options. Fluid game performance. Only thing missing could be a list hardware scalers: Hq2x, advame, Scalenx, etc, found in many emulators but its no big deal. Cons: No remappable keybindings. This is disastrous. Utterly disastrous, a common theme i noticed when some non-brand company makes game remasters. I had issues doing just the simplest of maneuvers because of the horrid controls forced on me. Moving up to and shooting an enemy for example, i could trudge on and get used to it but for now im not sure if i want to, the game is clonky as it is, the keybinds eliminates all fun.

After years, I've finally completed it!

Flashback: what a fantastic game with .... mmm... let's just say, despite all the modern upgrades, it didn't aged that well. However, I've never experience this game in ''its time'', but always fascinated me for its story and gameplay, so finally I've had the opportunity to picked it up on GOG with this remastered version, which is a good one. As one old Prince of Persia ( or more accurately Another world)- inspired platform, it does provide a lot of fun if approached with the knowledge that this is an, again, old school platform, which mean stiff controls, unfair camera position and combat that is both exciting and a little unfair. But this version of the old masterpiece does carry a few easy fix to a gameplay that is, after all, not that old. And not just that: sounds and graphics are both upgraded to give a more modern experience. Personally speaking? I loved it. A mix of platforming, puzzles and shooting all combined with a a typical 90' story and sounds( and overall feeling) that truly are even more fascinating to this day ( or at least, by my very preference). So, absolutely worth buying! Conrad never looked that good and more manoeuvrable than ever.... which is not that much... buuuut if you have patience, this is a game definitely worth experiencing. It will let you feel like... drifting into the stars ;)
