Description
You start the game with a few peasants and limited resources that you will use to eventually turn your small settlement into a real medieval castle. Build, mine resources, grow crops, manufacture equipment, trade, and advance science on your own or by delegating tasks to your people. Greedy bandits will regularly raid your settlement, so you'll have to rally militia troops and repel the enemy.
Key features
• Manage peasantsEach peasant can have one of ten available professions. Once you assign them to one, they'll start following orders and carrying out tasks related to that profession — you won't need to keep track of each individual inhabitant. However, if you think ordinary peasants with the most basic education won't be great at tactics, you can directly command individual units or groups of units in combat.
• Develop infrastructure
Start by processing stone and lumber, then make advancements in technology to unlock new ways to grow your settlement: manufacturing, trade, lighting, comfort, equipment, defense. Your character and peasants will also be able to grow and improve their skills while they do useful work.
• Settlers
To make a village attractive to new settlers, you need to make sure the inhabitants are comfortable. Peasants need cozy houses and good food. However, for particularly lazy peasants, you'll have to use the whip along with the carrot.
• Battles
Bandits, wolves, and bears will regularly attack your settlement. You can lead the militia or stay out of combat by letting your people defend themselves. To reduce casualties, you can hide behind powerful walls or lure the enemy into meticulously placed traps.
• Agriculture
Hunting and gathering will only solve the problem of hunger at the earliest stages. In a highly developed settlement, you'll need to start growing various crops and raising animals.
• Trade
Merchants will regularly visit your village. They'll offer their goods and buy things you produce. With time, you will be able to send trade caravans to other locations.
• Events
Random events will require you to make important decisions: choose weapons or food, gold or goods for your peasants, "one egg today or a hen tomorrow".
• Seasons
To survive the harsh medieval winter, you'll need to build campfires and houses, and stock up on provisions, making sure you prioritize non-perishable food.
• Cooperative multiplayer
Build your village together and fight shoulder to shoulder with your friends. The game supports multiplayer for up to 6 players.

Really Good Colony Sim
Came here from Rimworld hoping for a similar experience but with a WASDable character of my own (Rimworld has that mod now, btw). Didn't get that experience. The peasants are NPCs and nothing more, not like the Rim's cherished pawns. There is no story here, no drama, really. Peasants have no relationship to one another and just kind of wander from task to task like really introverted white-collar workers. You're the main character, but you're also the bald chick from Star Craft. It's actually quite something to be both. But four stars? Because the game is solid and consistent and actually pretty deep, deep enough to be confusing and vague, but also not so difficult you die like nine times trying to figure out how to plant corn or that steel is flammable. Plus, you can get your Thane/Chief/CEO up out of his chair and he can go slaughter bandits and invaders with the best of 'em, or fish. The goals and classes system is intricate, and the crafting is actually pretty cool: your peasants can workshop and mass produce stuff, but so can you. There's no morale spiral, because there's no morale. Raids are pretty tame, at least earlier on, and if you lack the military, your dude can handle a lot of it because you're not a dumb NPC. So if you're looking for a neat colony builder, this can definitely scratch the itch. If the devs do a second one, I'd play that, too: more characterization for the peasants, and the ability to travel longer distances? Maybe?

Great Colony Sim w/Room For Growth
Has great depth to research to develop your colony. Music and sound effects are not bad but not great either. would like to see random map gen and being able to do missions/ attack other factions bases. 7.5/10 hope there is more to come!

Stuck in the tutorial
Tried it out but got stuck in the tutorial... Some bench did never finish. Bought it, because I read Dwarf Fortress only with simpler controlls here. Be aware, this is not dwarf fortress. In dwarf fortress you do not control anyone direcly. Dwarf Fortress looks very, very different. And what and how you do it, also is pretty different. It is a game of its own merrits. I did not like the art style and perspective. But that may be personal preference... I did not like, that the tutorial did not work. I did not like, moving may guy around with wasd and mouse like in a shooter, to interact with storage or workbenches... I looked for a strategy title not for something that requires dexterity and targeting and positioning bad looking sucker on the map.
