Description
Feist is an atmospheric action-platformer about a small creature trapped in a mysterious and hostile world. Follow strange beasts through lonely forests, hazardous mountains, dark caves, and glowing swamps. Watch out for dangerous creatures that react to your movements and decisions with dynamic AI, and cleverly concealed traps that will test your ability to survive.

Over six years in the making, Feist is a gorgeous hand-made adventure unlike anything else, with a cinematic presentation reminiscent of The Dark Crystal or Hedgehog in the Fog, with a haunting original soundtrack by Tomek Kolczynski.
  • Enemies with surprising emergent interactions. Armed with a complex AI and a set of versatile abilities they act upon the environment to the same extent the player does.
  • Gorgeous natural environments and an enchanting, spooky atmosphere.
  • A striking visual style.

An overcomplicated replica

This game is almost exact copy of Limbo (movement, colourless foreground) and Nihilumbra (music and colourful background style), but it's too complicated. You will die. And then you will die again. And again. After two first chapters enemies will be everywhere. They're in the sky, they're in the ground, they're running towards you and they're shooting. They predict your trajectory so jumping's not helping, you will just die. It's all right for a dynamic game like Capsized to be filled with enemies (with appropriate weapons held you can get through it), but this game leaves you no weapon, you're just a bit of fur born to die again and again. The idea of such meditative simplified scrollers is to relax and enjoy visuals and music. An excessive complexity drops all this meditation away leaving us with a mean no-weapons shooter. I wouldn't recommend buying it.

Doesn't live up to its potential

Feist is a good game but I was really hoping for more. It begins so promising: Beautiful art design and a very atmospheric soundtrack by Tomek Kolczynski. But it never lives up to its potential. It offers a great world at first but then don't really let you play that much in it. I would have loved it if you were able to discover what's above all those trees... like jumping from branch to branch, higher and higher. But most of the time you are dogding all those projectiles from mean flys and even deadlier worms. :| PRO - Gorgeous and unique graphic style - Beautiful, eerie soundtrack - Cute protagonist, I love that furball :) CONTRA - Very short, took me about 2 hours and I thought I died a lot - Almost no story at all - Some very frustrating and downright unfair passages - Surviving feels like pure luck sometimes - Too much fighting and too few puzzles If you like you can take a look at my Let's Play. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAs1cfvJ3k0

Very nice, but short

Well, it is Limbo and it isn't Limbo. It's similar enough for me to enjoy it greatly, just like I did Limbo. It is quite difficult and can be frustrating, especially given the way autosave works. The game is divided into levels (chapters) and each chapter has checkpoints, so when you get further and die, you restart from a checkpoint. But if you quit the game, you start at the beginning of the level (chapter), so if you quit in frustration like me, more frustration awaits you when you return, since you have to repeat often difficult parts of the level again. I could live with that, though. The one thing that gets me give the game 4/5 is the game length. Feist is quite short, and replayability isn't great, either. I found Limbo more replayable. Somehow I enjoyed going through it several times. I don't feel the same way about this one. 14 bucks for a game that short? And a game that was 6 years in the making, yet it's over so soon? This is a shame. But, even though it's short, it was very nice and a unique, which is something you don't see very often these days. So, 4/5 from me.

too much difficult.. but good gameplay

A good game, but really too difficult. I love the art style and the gameplay, but I really would like a easy mode. I beat it anyway but it was not a fantastic experience. Many times you know what you have to do and how, but you just cannot do it. Still for a low price I say it's ok.

Not fun

SImply put, this game was not fun for me. I liked the artwork and the music, but the difficulty completely killed it for me (no pun intended). It seems that many developers these days, this developer included, don't seem to understand that constantly dying and repeating the same 5-15 seconds over and over again just isn't fun. It's frustrating, not fun. If/when you finally make it past such a point, you don't have a feeling of accomplishment; you have only bitter resentment toward the developer for making the task so difficult. As others have pointed out, you have no weapon (thus no way to defend yourself), and the enemies anticipate your movement. Worse than that, they can (and will) hit you multiple times while you're mid-air, and you can't do anything until you land (at which point, you're usually dead). When it takes only 3-4 hits to kill you, getting hit 2-3 times during one jump pretty much seals your fate. And when you have several enemies shooting at you from the air, several enemies shooting at you from the ground, and nothing to use as cover to shield yourself, you will die very quickly, over and over again. LIke others, I uninstalled this game without completing it simply because this constant cycle of get-hit-in-mid-air, die, repeat pushed me beyond mere frustration, and it wasn't worth continuing. Playing games is supposed to be fun, and for me, this wasn't fun.
