F.E.A.R. Platinum

F.e.a.r is amazing. It's not as scary as some of the other horror shooters I've played, but the gunplay, slow-mo system and particle effects make this game one hell of a fun time. A lot of the big shootout sections feel like a blockbuster action movie

Can't believe this game still holds up this well! Everyone mentions the AI - and for good reason. Some fights almost feel like I'm playing a multiplayer game. Makes me wonder why we don't see modern AAA titles implement something that impressive. I feel like, not only should this be standard, but we should have surpassed it by now. While the game is a bit repetetive and very linear, I never felt bored. Highly recommend this game!

Played this at launch as a kid and remember it scaring the hell out of me. It still is pretty creepy due to the amazing atmosphere Monolith were able to create. Not many games can blend geniune horror (which relies typically on disempowerment) with matrix style shootouts where you're armed to the teeth. Monolith delivers. Unfortunatley, you will have to get a fan patch from PCGamingWiki.com but it is simple to download and place in FEARs directory. Game has run flawlessly afterwards. Easy to recommend this and Monolith's other game from the time, Condemned: Criminal Origins!

Still decent FPS. Especially enemies are impressive: taking cover, changing cover, withdrawing, spending a lot more time behind covers, than in your average FPS, which creates more immersive and realistic feel. Horror elements so far are not that impressive, compared to i.e. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games.
