A routine assignment to locate the president of Armacham Technology Corporation in connection with an unfolding hostage crisis turns into a desperate battle for survival after an explosion decimates the city and unleashes Alma Wade, the terrifying supernatural menace at the center of Armacham’s highly classified Project Origin. As Alma’s power swells out of control, special forces Sgt. Michael Becket and his squad must battle through an apocalyptic landscape of shattered buildings and buckled streets in search of clues for how to destroy her. The more Becket learns about Armacham’s secret experiments and reckless agenda, the more he begins to suspect that he’s somehow linked to the crisis and may be the only one capable of averting total disaster.

FEAR 2 is an amazing shooter even today.
The sound effects are definitely the weak area. But visually, this game holds up. Of course it is not as detailed as a modern FPS. This is from a time when companies had their own engines and were constantly one upping the other. Now practically everything is made with the Unreal engine but I am amazed at how well the lithtech looks even today.
Shooting mechanics are awesome. Much better level design, although it is still very linear, that's what this game is.
I thought the story was decent. Voice acting is really bad. The music is definitely lackluster compared to FEAR 1.
For some reason the slow mo effects are really weird. The bullet traces look lame, kinda bubbles floating, enemies are highlighted, I didn't like that either.
Other than some small negatives, this is one heck of a shooter. They even have some mech sequences so us old Shogo fans can have a bit of a flashback to those days.
The overall game, mechanics, gunplay, opponents, etc. are really good imo.
But I still after playing the first game all of its DLCs and this with its DLC don't know what is the story really about. It might be a me problem but for me at least the story is a mess
