Retro, turn based Off-World Trader clone

TLDR play Off-World Trader instead **Synopsis** You start with a small map with various terrain features and can then make limited terraforming changes based on periodic random allocations of terraforming tiles. You balance resources (food, glass, production, water, power) as your colony expands aiming to meet various requirements. In two hours of play I encountered a few nonsensical bugs that required restarting the scenario; not a big deal at all (eg the Main base wasn't connected to the main base) **Comparison to Off World Trader** Con: lacks features and polish Con: Nothing innovative or original Con: Apparently a single story which was unconvincing Pro: Less than 1/2 the price Pro: Slightly easier learning curve (although tutorial was not intuitive and requires trial and error or reading notes) Neutral: with Stardock closing the OWT servers neither are multiplayer **Summary** This game would be 4 stars if it was made pre 2000, but as it's a copy of an objectively better made game, I can't recommend it. If you strongly wanted a turn based OWT with retro graphics and less to do, then this might be for you.

Neither yes nor no.

Neither yes nor no. It's not a bad game to kill time, but it lacks many things and doesn't quite hook you. On one hand, it's a blend of SimCity and Surviving Mars, with a visually comfortable graphic style. But on the other hand, it only lasts a few rounds before falling into tedium because it all boils down to repeating the same steps over and over again, without much variation. --------------------- Ni sí ni no. No es mal juego para pasar el rato, pero le faltan muchas cosas y no llega a enganchar. Por un lado, es una mezcla de SimCity y Surviving Mars, con un estilo gráfico cómodo de ver. Pero por el otro, da para unas pocas partidas antes de caer en el tedio porque todo se resume a repetir una y otra vez los mismos pasos, sin mayor variación.

Balanced Strategy Experience

I love this game. It’s very easy to learn, yet it can get complex and is really fun to play. I like turn-based games because they give me time to think. I also enjoy the element of randomness and the discovery of new resources. The complexity isn’t overpowered — it’s just right to keep the player engaged without overwhelming them. And the tutorial presented as a campaign is fantastic.

Chill little city builder

Very chill game, worth buying on a sale. I got it 75% off and it was more than worth for the 15 hours I got out of the main campaign. The gameplay loop is interesting at first, but the only real challenge is to not grow faster than what you can support. The last 2 missions I only played to finish the story, and while quite simple and generic, it gave a nice sense of completion to the whole experience. There is a timer on the missions, to give some challenge, but I never failed because of that. If you need something small to chill out after a hard day, I wholeheartedly recommend. Story: heartwarming and chill, Gameplay: the campaign ends before it gets boring, but one mission longer would be too long, Replay value: low - I will not revisit it in the future

Casual and fun

If you are looking for something simple and engaging, and willing to overlook minor details, this game is really awesome. Not for serious gamers though. Buy it under $5.
