Every time I launch the game, my mosue gets stuck inside a small box in the middle of the screen and can't move outside that area. It completely stops me from being able to do anything on my PC and forces a reboot. I am asking for a refund. The Steam version of Fallout 4 never had this problem.
So Skyrim Special Edition came to GOG. Good. It also came with the Anniversary Edition upgrade (or a standalone AE version, depending on what you wanna get), which gave you all the CC content.
Fallout 4 also has CC content, but unlike Skyrim, the GOG version doesn't let you get it, and GOG itself suggests getting mods instead. Now sure, F4's CC content is rubbish compared to Skyrim's, and there are actually fewer Creations at that, but it's still funny that Skyrim gets both AE and the AE upgrade options, whereas F4 gets a suggestion that you should get mods. It's also cheaper than Skyrim, I'm guessing for this reason.
As to the game itself, at the top of the page we have a banner with various gaming media outlets praising it to heaven and back. Don't trust gaming journalists: Fallout 4 is hot garbage. Yes, the character creator is better than in Skyrim, but the armour is ugly; the guns just look stupid and are underpowered; a lot of animations were lazily recycled; the main plot is boring and predictable; the factions don't make sense; the Boston area has framerate drops; the crafting is tedious; and in spite of giving the protagonists slightly different backgrounds, they play absolutely the same, so it's just a matter of whose rump you wanna watch for hours, and whose voice you wanna listen to, because all conversations are voiced, and you can't even change the voice pitches. Couple all of this with Bethesda's "famous" approach to player choices (that is, they don't really exist), and you know what you've got. Then again, maybe the praising banner was put there ironically?
This game could have been good, it's got seemingly all the right components, I could even forgive the lame aesthetic choices (even though it feels cartoony as heck), but alas, it missed the mark by 1.60934 kilometres.
I only rated it 2/5 because it's DRM-free. Thanks, Todd!
Another settlement needs our help, indeed.
As the title says - Unforunately Bethesda had the rights to call this a Fallout game.
It's a mediocre game with a poor attempt to capture the original series "feels". The plot is dull, the characters are not interesting at all, the combat is extremely horrible and stupid ... this game lacks good mechanics. I do not recomend this at all.
Depending what you expect this is a devestatingly bad game or an ok game.
If you are an RPG Friend and you have played Fallout 1-3 and newvegas.
THIS IS NOT FALLOUT.
it is not an RPG it has nothing that is important for an RPG.
no choices, lackluster writing, bad story direction
If you expect GTA Wasteland this is your game. primitive gunplay no real connection to the other fallouts (most iconic gun is missing: SMG, blatent mistakes like Fusion Cells, absurd power armor usage, changes in a major faction that does not really make sense, no choice from the beginning while pretty much all other Fallout games have meaningful choices.
really bad writing, most companions are cliché.
unneccessary crafting and a settlement system EVERYONE HATES.
the good?
-environment artists are good parts of the world look unnaturally cramped
-music is nice
-voice acting ok sometimes good.
the bad
-horrible interface
-its not an RPG no skills no limits; you can learn and do EVERYTHING no choices necessary
-far to easy, since you have the most powerful armor from the beginning you are limited only by getting fuel after having 4-6 settlements you have enough to run in power armor continuously.
-no choices, often player is forced (try to tell preston that u dont want to help him, MANY dialogs that result in the same result no matter what you choose)
-bad story and many clichés
-game is BUGGY
-meaningless side quests
-only 2 possible endings with no connections for the other things you did in the game
-no end story for ANY of the companions settlements major and minor factions
-bad gunplay
-useless VATS system
-crafting is bad
-building settlements nice idea but a horrible interface YOU WASTE BETWEEN 1/3 and 4/10 OF YOUR TIME ON CRAFTING AND SETTLEMENTS.
-grafics are meh
whats worth:
Fallout Fans 0,99 € stay away play New vegas again...
people who have no idea what fallout is and who want something easy: 9,99€ INCLUDING ALL DLC!
Besides the tedious gameplay, it's the load times. I wonder how many hours was spent staring at a blank screen. Waiting and waiting. Not woth installing. Look somewhere else.
