Merging the smash hit indie game The Escapists with the world wide phenomenon that is The Walking Dead, Team17 have taken the very best of both worlds and are now providing players with the opportunity to play Rick Grimes as he takes on hordes of walkers let loose upon the world.
Rick is in charge of a band of survivors featuring many of the original comic book cast, including Maggie, Hershel, Glenn and Michonne. Rick must secure the safety of the group by seeking out a safe escape route from each area, and manage several dangerous tasks to keep as many of the group alive as possible. The game faithfully matches the timeline of the comics, meaning Rick must first fight his way out of the Harrison Memorial Hospital, visit the Greene family farm before visiting destinations such as the Meriwether Correctional Facility and Woodbury.

Epic Crafting: Choose from over two hundred + different items to make over 70 tools or weapons to aid your survival.
Guns!: Firearms will now be available to craft or discover - they are handy for keeping walkers at bay!
Good game in the spirit of the Escapists (slightly easier though which is a shame).
One annoying thing is the Merchant bug: you try to buy something, it doesn't seem to work so you press Esc to find out that you can't do anything at all, the game is frozen.
Save often, which kinds of defeat the purpose of staying up at night and waste one night.
Maybe, but I doubt it, there will be an update to fix this.
Other than that, the game is enjoyable and the mix with the Walking Dead series works perfectly. Fans of the two will find this to be a great game.
First of all, let me say that I am not familiar with 'the escapists' and never liked Minecraft, at all. The style used in this title just reminded me very much of that game and this format just doesn't work for me, especially for a zombie game like The Walking Dead.
I haven't finished the game and I won't play it again. The only thing that I liked about this title is the loading screen ambiance music. Just to sum up what's wrong with this game for me:
1. The style
2. The controls, it just doesn't feel intuitive. you'll be pressing buttons and clicking left and right to do a single thing.
3. There is a lot happening in terms of interfaces and reading. A lot of it is repetitive. Dialogues and interface boxes are vollied at you. It's hard to tell what's important and what isn't. The music in most cases also gives a sense of unnecessary urgency while you try to figure this all out.
4. The cutscenes look horrible, imagine a chibi pixelart character stretched 100 times its original size. I have no idea what's even being displayed. Just a black screen with some text would be way cleaner.
There's probably more, but alas I was looking for a zombie title and this isn't it for me so I quit. This game is more so designed for people who like the escapists probably and are familiar with The Walking Dead, but aren't invested nto the zombie genre.
(If you're looking for some real zombie action on GOG try the Zombie Shooter series, or even Zombie Night Terror which is a very compelling game)
