Not what I expected

If you are just looking for brain teasers, Escape Goat is not the game for you. Most of the puzzles are solved by trial and error. You can't tell what a button is going to trigger until you try it out and experiment. Also, get used to traps! In most levels you'll have to die a few times just to learn the puzzle mechanics. The challenge comes mostly from platforming and execution. It's still a fun game with DOS style graphics and good sound design. After you beat the main campaign, another set of levels becomes available where the game turns full Super Meat Boy. These levels require pixelprecise platforming skills, and you will die hundreds of times. They are also deviously designed. After you master the first half of a level, you'll often fall into another trap you didn't see coming. Although the game tends to get frustrating I found myself coming back to it again and again.

Great until just before the end

Great puzzle game until the second-last screen (The Final Path room 9) which was too hard. I like logic/puzzle games, but am frustrated when they become timing-based for jumping rather than logic-based. Not as good as The Swapper

A great platformer/puzzler

The mechanic of having a small sidekick makes this game a very interesting one. You need good controls but thinking ahead can make the game much simpler!

Old school puzzler, but original

The puzzles are great and addictive. The design is great, playing as this purple despised goat add great value to this world immersion. This is a game in the vain of these old puzzle games. The main campain will push you forward to continue one level after another (yeah, it's this kind of game where it's hard to stop when beginning a play ^^). You can play with your pad if you wish. There isn't any game design flaw. I don't even know if each level has one unique solution or not. Give it a try if you like old school but original puzzle games. For hardcore gamers, there is also a mode with hard puzzles when you finish the campain (but without the little story this time).

I don't normally like platformers

This was better than I expected. I'm not a platformer fan, but this game is much more puzzler than platformer, at least until you get to the later levels, but by the end I'd been jumping around so much with the goat that I was also competent in the required platforming also. Most of the puzzles are not overly hard, but there a few head scratchers. Often there's some trial and error involved (and dying) while you're learning how a level works, but usually it's a matter of discovering the proper sequence of steps, and then executing the plan. Only toward the end does the "execution" of the plan become the more challenging part of the equation requiring precision timing and moves. Really good puzzles. Fun gameplay. Not too frustrating, but still challenging. Good difficulty curve.
