Enter the Gungeon

Wonderful aesthetic. Very creative. Everything fits together, looks good, humorous. Music except the main theme sucks though. However gameplay is what really matters and once you get passed the surface level stuff it's the same problems as all others of the rogue genre. It's not skill-based as it is luck-based. You success depends almost entirely on the drops you get as typical of a rogue. It's frustrating and annoyingly rare to get any good items and guns, or even just ones you like. And it takes too long to unlock good ones that you still won't get because the item pool is huge. So what that means is it takes too long before you can finally start to have fun. Playing the easy first level over and over again with the terrible starting pistols is just abysmal. At some point it should have at least allowed you to take in one mid-tier weapon for fun's sake. And the game does have the same issues like others that adopt its top-faced camera angle like Wizard of Legend, Hyper Light Drifter, etc. Pits and walls-as-cover are not graphically or mechanically precise so far too easily and often you can fall into a pit or get hit by a bullet when it flagrantly should not happen. And each hit matters greatly for games like this because healing is difficult or currency is scarce. Also problems with the accuracy of aiming. Even with accurate guns/items, sometimes it just doesn't shoot where you are pointing. I have brand new controller and mouse. For a game that demands precision as well as luck, you can't have bullshit like that. A rogue game gets away with unbalanced gameplay because death/replays are intentional. But due to the dependency on items, it is still not much of an excuse. As far as rogues go though, this is still better than most. Annoyingly obscure progression. So many secrets impossible to find without an online wiki. But fun references. Recommend, for pretty much everything but the core gameplay which will frustrate you more than give you fun.

Enter the Gungeon surprised me. I didn't expect it to have so much depth, and so much to do inside of it. As someone who has never played a roguelike game before, I highly recommend this game as a place to dive in. It's just so much fun, especially with another player!

Fun arcade gameplay but I'm usually left feeling disappointed after a round. Way too many worthless guns/items. 85% of my games are ended prematurely by shitty gun drops, and if I mess up and don't get the extra hearts off the first easier bosses, also an early death sentence. Without many extra hearts you are done, unless you're a pro, in which case you would get all the hearts anyway. That 15% of the time the game is good, it's damn good. When you get some cool guns that suit your playstyle and maybe even some item synergies, the game shines. Unfortunately most of your time will be spent using shit weapons and threatening to uninstall if the next fucking chest doesn't drop something decent. I don't know what this big advanced "update" a while back did because the RNG feels just as shit as it was before. I put in 5 hours or so with this new update and got 1 shitty weapon synergy. Where's the fucken game they show in trailers with all this cool shit happening? Most of the time you're using the starting pistol ffs. If I could customize the game a bit, maybe pick a mid tier weapon and item to start with, and there were more reliable ammo/health drops, or even tweak drop selection like smashbros, this game would be so much better and would stay fresh. I got so tired of the garbage starter weapons and sticking it through only to get screwed by RNG anyway. I would not recommend this game unless you're a hardcore gamer with OCD. I had more satisfaction after a few rounds of galaga 25 years ago. This game is just a constant "fuck you" to the player. Don't believe the hype. I want my 10 dollars back.

Not so many good games for two people on a PC and this one is very good. Everything changes - maps, enemies, and bosses. Do not know what to expect in a next room. So many things to discover and there are more and more. So far I was able to get to fourth floor, but who knows how many are there. Intriguing game. The price is right. Five stars. Recommend!

Enter the Gungeon is a solid game, to be sure. There's a lot of difficulty, replay-ability, and items to play around with. The whole time I was playing, though, I couldn't help but think of how INSANELY similar this game is to Binding of Isaac, but how I'd rather be playing that game instead, considering the general experience is about the same. Enter the Gungeon seems to have had the "everything and the kitchen sink" approach to game design, and it had a little less cohesion as a result. If you get this game on sale, you'd probably have a fine time playing it. It's fun. There's just better Rogue-types out there.
