Short Sifu-lite swashbuckling comedy
I enjoyed my time with En Garde a lot. It plays a bit like a simplified version of Sifu with a bigger focus on using the environment. The fencer-musketeer theme is also very welcome as there aren't many games about that around. It's very well polished (had very few bugs in my playthrough) with nice visuals and voice acting. Good text with cartoonish comedy and a charismatic protagonist. The only downside is that it's not very long but it does have some replay value in the form of challenges and an Arena mode. At a certain point, there's a secret that hints at many other characters that ended up not making an appearance, so my guess is the devs had bigger plans and had to cut out many things in favour of delivering a polished final product. Taking into consideration that the gameplay is simple with no character progression whatsoever, maybe the short length isn't an issue: if anything the game doesn't overstay it's welcome.

Fun gameplay, but short
Great but sadly a bit too short. The arena mode is pretty fun tho, not really my cup of tea, but still. Definetely still worth the price! The game is so full of heart and love!

Very short, but worth checking out
The game is very good and I had a real fun playing it, but has rather little to offer. The story mode lasts about 4-5h (without chasing all of the secrets, achievements, and level challenges), and besides that, there is also an arena mode, that extends gameplay a little. The level design is linear and every level in constructed similarly, a room full of enemies to conquer, a platforming section, another room, etc. etc., and boos and the end of the chapter. The story itself is funny and positive, you play as a "female Zorro" fighting for the poor. The fights can be challenging, and you need to be in constant movement, use the environment, kick parry, and use skills - especially on the harder difficulties.

Tricky but rewarding
It took time to come to grips with using the enivornment to control the mobs, but once you get a handle on the strategies and spacial awareness on the run, as well as all the tricks up your sleeve, it is silly chaos at it's best. The highlight for me was the arena mode, where enemies, hazards, arenas from the game are used with an addictive negative/positive modifiers that help diversify your use of the mechanics.
