Empire Earth Gold Edition

This is a great Real Time Strategy Game. This is a lot of fun to play with friends.

Back in 2001, after the craziness Age of Empires 2 and Command and Conquer Red Alert 2 brought to the RTS table, there was room for improvements to the mechanics of those games. They were very easy for casual gamers to pick up and play, but became rather dull after playing for a long time. To solve this dilemma, the lead designer of Age of Empires ll decided to improve upon the game by making Empire Earth with Sierra Entertainment, under a new studio name as well (Stainless Steel Studios). Released to critical and mixed views, the game was harshly criticized for it's difficulty and lack of story, and somewhat dated graphics. What the majority of those who negatively put down the game fail to understand, is that Empire Earth is MEANT to be complex! It is not a beginner's RTS (although an ingame tutorial is provided, I think) and is meant for dedicated RTS players. Battles last for hours. Hours! You feel very satisfied after having mastered 500,000 years of human technology in a match! No other RTS can match that timeline. Empire Earth is a great alternative to cookie cutter RTS games currently released around 2000 - 2003. It bravely steps into the 3D realm and offers limitless gameplay for those looking for a more realistic experience.

Great old game. However, it is incompatible with Windows 10 resulting in a game that freezes and locks your computer when you try to play a map. I have tried different compatibility and graphics settings to no avail. I do not recommend buying unless they fix this.

When Empire Earth came out in 2001 the game had me absolutely hooked. Coming back to it ten years later I'm still infatuated with it! Being able to go from the stone age to future tech in a single scenario is absolutely beautiful. If you enjoy the feeling of advancement in any Civ game but always wanted the speed of an RTS, this is your game. Epic.
