Elven Legacy
The shadows of destruction begin to loom on the horizon once a human mage uncovers a dark and powerful secret dating back to the remote past of the Elven race. However, the Elves cannot allow this forbidden knowledge to fall into the hands of others and thus imperil the world. For the first time in countless years, this ancient race must venture forth and interfere with events transpiring in the lands of man. With the renegade mage in their sights, the sorceress Gilwen and ranger-lord Seagate set off together, unaware that beliefs and friendships alike will soon be tested...

Elven Legacy: Magic
The era of Elven Legacy is coming to an end. The relentless wave of demonic magical energy triggered by the death of the demon Farrakh has swept the world and has now reached the free city of Sylent. Powerless, the Masters of the Academy of Magic are being driven insane. The Holy Inquisition, inspired by the clerics of the kingdom of New Tixus, acts swiftly to intervene in the seemingly hopeless cause of preventing the world’s slide into darkness and madness.

At the forefront is Alfred Brennock, the Archmage supreme, who alone is mastered in the arcane arts, and who alone can save the lives and the sanity of his Academy pupils. Using the strength and potency of the Sagittel’s curse, Brennock faces the ultimate test of his will as he creates spells of untold power, summons legions of mystical spectres, and crosses half a world in a desperate attempt to stem the tide of evil. But he isn’t the only one...

Elven Legacy: Ranger
The Order of Marcus, long dormant in its isolation, is expanding. The renowned ranger Cornelius, armed with his spear and trained in the arts of subterfuge, has been tasked with preparing the world of Illis for the coming of the order.

Ranger Cornelius possesses a holy spear that can apply special powers to his attacks. In Elven Legacy, each unit's operation could only be performed once per turn - one move and one attack. Ranger Cornelius can now use special attributes of his sacred spear without losing his turn. For example, he can activate a paralysing stroke and then throw the spear at the enemy. The enemy unit will not only suffer damage from the attack, but they will also be unable to move during the enemy’s turn.

Elven Legacy: Siege
Several months have passed since the return of the Order of Marcus from exile to the continent and their founding of the kingdom of New Tixus in this, the second official Expansion to the epic Fantasy Strategy game Elven Legacy.

Outcast elves under the leadership of the elven lord Saggitel, have once more acted provocatively and dared to cross in to the realm of man, but the human armies are ready and waiting. Inciting the wrath of brother Karel, the fearsome knight of the Holy Inquisition, along with the agent of New Tixus, the ranger Cornelius, Saggitel is now their target of retribution. How far can Saggitel run before they catch up to him?

Each of the heroes, whatever their individual cause, has a mighty army behind them. In the course of their adventures, each will have to stand in battle and withstand mighty sieges in their quest for survival and victory. The ancient impregnable fortresses of the dwarves, the enchanted cities of the elves, and the historic capital cities of Eolia, each will see their share of bloodshed, and each will become sites of conflicts which will go down in the annals of history.
  • Classic turn-based strategy gameplay
  • Multiplayer combat in 16 different scenarios
  • Multiple endings which depend on your choices
  • Powerful built-in game editor

Battle for Wesnoth in 3D

Title says it all. If you like the freeware game Battle for Wesnoth, you will certainly enjoy Elven Legacy for much the same reasons... maybe even more so, since eye candy factor of EL is quite high. Igo-Ugo turn-based combat on a hex grid. Battles last <20 turns mostly. You fight a campaign using persistent military squad-sized units and heroes that level up between battles as they gain xp. Occasional forks in the campaign story give you choices to make on the next battle to fight, etc. I'm only into the first few battles, but the max difficulty setting it is really hard, even for any Wesnoth grog! Bitd the initial release of Elven Legacy was very buggy, but I am glad to say it now runs flawlessly on Windows 7. No problems at all. The 3D engine is very well implemented, and resetting visuals to native screen resolution on startup looks great. SFX look perfect. No crashes. It is definitely worth picking up if you are a Wesnoth fan, or if you just like turn-based fantasy combat games. I like.

Absolutely Awesome!!!

I just got done writing a review for this game's predecessor, Fantasy Wars, after I finished the game and then started the Orc Campaign again. If you liked Fantasy Wars, you're at least going to like this one just as much if not more. It's an old schooler, so if you can't deal with old school graphics, it might turn you off. But if you are a TBS fan, you'll still love it. Now, I'm only 3 missions in on the original campain on Elven Legacy, but I already love it more than Fantasy Wars. At $5.99, it's a no-brainer!

More-of-the-same, sloppier translation

Sequel to Fantasy Wars. Pretty much exactly the same gameplay-wise: Turn-based grid tactical RPG. Various units for various functions, different races have their own versions as well as unique units. This sequel is plagued with poor translation choices, which makes deciphering the just-okay story even less exciting. Much more than the first game, getting through the scenarios felt like a chore and the story progression payoff less rewarding. That said, it's not an awful game by any means. It does (eventually) give a proper conclusion to the story. If you really enjoyed the first game, it's worth buying.

Poor Fantasy Wars clone

Unlike Fantasy Wars, Elven Legacy is a poor strategy game. I had troubles finishing the main campaign. Maybe the expansion packs are better? I cannot tell, as I had my fill after the main campaign. In contrast to the more engaging and better Fantasy Wars (4 stars), Elven Legacy suffers from controlling overpowered units. Air ships not only have the role of scout but, for no clear reason, have major area of effect spells. An elven archer can take on several enemies, and can even take on enemies in melee. Dragons kill everything. It does not mean the game is easy, by no means, but the amount of damage you can dish out, and most over range, means it becomes a game of dishing out as much damage as possible per turn, not caring how your units are positioned afterwards, as there are no enemies left that can hit back. What is also damaging the experience, is the amount and strength of nuke spells. Area of effect spells, like the ones from air ships, can blast 7 units at once. Most enemy groups are conveniently clustered in 7-hex formations. If you saved your nuke spells you can wipe out boss groups in a single turn to quickly end missions. In comparison, every turn in Fantasy Wars was finding a working balance between crippling opposing units while not leaving weak spots in your own defense. And the end of missions often provided a challenge, where you tried to overcome a strong force with a beaten-up army, and no easy options to bypass with a few spells.

Equivalent to HoMM done more cheerful?

Gotta say, I didn't expect to get hooked into this game so much, rarely have I been really. Last time I did was with HoMM 5, and yes many argue the 3rd game was better, but grow up already, we can only play the same game for so long before we look for something else. I had to take a break from HoMM 5 and surprisingly found myself getting this game thanks to a friend, and I gotta say... the hell am I doing back in turn-based fantasy? The answer is... I don't know, this game just has this uniqueness to it that I've never seen before. The rules are bias and so are the graphics, but so what? It's actually enjoyable, you actually care about losing or winning your battles. In the harder difficulties, you actually have to give a damn about what are you going to do in the next 5 turns, and I love that. That's the difference between HoMM and EL. HoMM is casual, EL is headwrecking in both a good and a bad way, so go ahead and give it a try already!
