Everything is great about it, the performance, the combat, the world, it's everything I expected from a sequel from Elex, and everything I expected from Piranha Bytes, which is a good thing. The storyline is a great sequel to the first game. The exploration is a lot of fun, also enjoyable to see the changes of some areas from the first game. The combat is a lot of fun. Flying with upgraded jet pack is "weeeeeeeee"!!!
I'm soooo late trying out this game, but decided to grab it to see if my 4090 could overpower the flaws. I'm so glad I did because despite being a little clunky it looks and runs amazing at max settings and the gameplay reminds me of Skyrim + Defiance in setting and theme, and a little Elden Ring combat but not super overpowered. There's still mobs that can one or two shot you if you wander into the wrong area and are a brand new character though.
I'm having a blast just casually doing quests and roaming and fighting small mobs and looting every little thing I find. The pacing of the game is perfect for me and there's soooo many paths to playing the game and where to put all your attribute and skill points into I can see myself enjoy several playthroughs. This will be a game I always revisit and I'm SO glad it came to GoG.
I think I may have waited just the right amount of time to play this game. No it's not perfect in every way like a AAA but I guarantee you I'm enjoying it more than some AAA games as of late and catching it on the black friday sale made it a steal.
Anyways, if you've got a solid card, and it's on sale, snag it!
A great role-playing game. But not perfect and that's good!
First of all, Elex 2 is a great role-playing game. According to the developers, it can be played well even with the minimum technical requirements and the graphics are okay.
Apart from the big titles like Witcher 2 and Cyberpunk, the game offers a great open world that is presented authentically and believably. The story is fascinating and makes you want more. It is a role-playing game that offers all the important requirements and many hours of fun.
However, Elex 2 also has weaknesses. Those who have not played a game by the developer in the past may not find the entry as comfortable as with other role-playing games. This is due to the fact that Elex 2 requires the player to make continuous decisions and requires a certain amount of frustration tolerance at the beginning due to the numerous possibilities of being killed. But once you have completed a few levels, joined a guild and made progress, you can enjoy a great game world that has something interesting to offer at every turn.
As for the graphics, they are fine and conjure up a beautiful world on the screen. Of course, it can't keep up with the graphics of Cyberpoint or AAA titles and is getting on in years. But overall, I am happy with the graphics and the game atmosphere.
Elex 2 is a great role-playing game and a successful sequel to Elex 1. Those who already know the developer's games, such as Gothic 2, can pick it up without a thought. For all others, I would recommend simply getting involved with the game and seeing for yourself whether you enjoy it. Thanks to the good refund from GOG, everyone can test the game without risk. In any case, I will continue to play it.
I want to be able to get into this game, but the camera gives me nausea. If I had a first person view or zoomable camera with much better FOV control, I could find the sweet spot. I'm going to wait and see if someone mods this game in the future, as it looks like it could be great.
