Earthworm Jim, spineless superhero, wriggles back into action as the Groovy Guardian of Goodness in an incredible journey of cheese-curdling proportions. Left unconscious by a massive cow-induced blow to the head and clad in his indestructible, high-tech super suit, Earthworm Jim continues the battle for truth, justice and well aerated soil. He sure is going to need your help to guide him through his 3D fun-house of a brain.
But beware, the is an evil lurking, a presence in his mind, a dark unseen force at work - Jim's brain is a dangerous place!
In the game you can enter Jim's psyche where he comes face to face with his own fears, happiness, memories and fantasies. Each environment has games-within-games, ludicrously large levels where you go wild pig-sliding, grandma wrangling and much more. You will face the weird enemies like Psycrow or the Disco Zombies. Explore any area you choose while keeping the trigger ready for action.

An underappreciated game that was released at a time when making games in 3D was very risky. It downright destroyed several franchises that used to be "immortal" up to that point. If you are ready to look beyond the 3D decision and the bad camera, Earthworm Jim 3D can be a fun experience. Your call.
Earthworm Jim 3D is truly a franchise killer : despite there were other platform games that found transitioning from 2D to 3D, very few of them did it so... badly, and it is a real shame.
Actually, the game has real solid idea (it still came from earthworm Jim saga, originality is the main cake),
even without mentioning the original pre production plans for this sequel so badly design, but the developers put them in practice in the worst way possible.
And let's not mention technical problems as well : revolting camera angles, horrific character movement and some part of the levels ( particularly the second boss fight ) are simply bad design.
Unfortunately, this is one of those times were I'm forced to say, even if it pains me to see such videogame series go to waste : no, don't buy it.
It is simply not worth it.
i played this game alot when i was very young on my old PC, and liked it back then but when the times have changed it hurts this game even more especially when compared to the excellent "earthworm jim 1&2", even nostalgia won't save this game. Earthworm Jim 3D is a mediocre 3-D platformer at best, this was not made by original developers and it shows. with "meh" graphics, unispired levels (with some exeptions), the music is a mixed-bag, bad collision detection, sloppy controls (which took a while just to get used to), but the broken camera and the frustrating and cheap boss battles are the reason i never want to play this game again. the only good thing about the game is some of the earthworm jim charm and offbeat humor is still intact but falls flat when compared to the prevoius two.
After playing through both Earthworm Jim 1 & 2 on the Genesis back in the day, I picked up this game for the Nintendo 64 hoping for a similarly hilarious experience. The game has a ton of great jokes with the typical shenanigans you would expect from a Jim game. Launching refrigerators into orbit, using your head as a whip, rivers of baked beans, etc.; the comedy is all there.
In the game, Jim has lost his mind after a cow fell on him and you play as his inner-worm-self. You have to collect his marbles to gain access to new levels and bosses which can be found scattered around every stage. The problem comes when you die...don't die! If you die, you have to recollect all the marbles you've already gathered which is really freaking tedious on the later stages. I can't tell you how many times I've put the game away because of one bad jump that cost me 83/100 marbles on the stage. Also, to defeat the boss characters you must collect a set number of marbles which isn't hard to get the hang of but later bosses like Professor Monkey for a Head and Bob the goldfish just make this literally impossible to accomplish.
Overall I rate this game 4/5 stars because it is a good game, as long as you play it conservatively and can laugh at a few cheesy bathroom jokes. The gameplay is really fun whenever you're doing well so I can't give it lower than a four for that reason.
It's an okay premise, with lots of callbacks to the original games, but it lacks the creativity of the originals.
The controls are awkward, the jokes are fewer and farther between, and the precision platforming is out the window.
It's still enjoyable to explore and see what the developers were shooting for. I can't help but think that this game would have been not only acceptable but good had they just spent some more time refining it.
Still, it is an interesting piece of gaming history that I'd feel incomplete without having played... but I didn't bother to pay it through to the end.
