As you ascend from your shelter after the long long years, a brave new old world awaits you. A world inhabited with nasty and vile creatures. A world with no other human soul to be seen. A world with nature in reigns now. A world that's about to get even worse.

Explore the vast hand-crafted open world and build Outposts to establish your presence. Claim back the land area by area. Find hidden treasures and solve puzzles long ago forgotten. Find your means of escaping the island.
The world after the end is inhabited by nasty creatures. Something vile has affected most of the wildlife and former human inhabitants of the island -- turning them into aggressive beast-like creatures. Slay them and collect their loot. Harvest their organs and provide them eternal rest. Or run away and come back when you're stronger. Fight using various melee and ranged weapons. Create traps and lure monsters in. Do whatever it takes.
You will not be fighting just to maintain the status quo. This IS NOT a game about starving. You won't be constantly looking for a tasty cockroach to fill your over-metabolic stomach while waiting for the unavoidable bliss that is death. You will never die of hunger. You will get more powerful, and unlock permanent upgrades. The world is a dangerous place, and you may take a few steps back once in a while, but eventually you will thrive.
Enjoy the bittersweet apocalypse.

like many who have been taking the time to play this game it hits allot of the popular elements of survival games and it holds a challenge though it is still easy to jump into. looking forward to what will happen next.
First of all: I like this game a lot. Cheer- and colorful, you can play at your own pace, interesting and meaningful exploration, nice combat mechanics (even though the targeting is a bit janky) and an interesting story. Cool.
Performancewise the game isn't there yet. Everytime an enemy hurls more than one projectile the game slows down visibly. During some of the larger battles or the later boss-fights (especially in the Doomsday DLC at the end) the game is slowed to a crawl and/or rubberbanding heavily. This makes these fights completely unenjoyable. I hope they fix this.
It looks pretty simplistic, kill zombies and destroy the world to gather resources. And yet there are so many things to do! Puzzle tombs give you necessary loot, arena obelisks give you permanent buffs, there are side quests, environmental storytelling, and in the end a - for me - very satisfying twist in how I see and identify my character. And even if you're not in the mood to kill zombies, you can spend a lot of hours just thrashing houses, cars, farms and trees for the heck of it!
This is probably the best game this year by far, but, there's a lot to this game that isn't intuitive or documented so you'll be referring to the internet regularly to progress. Content is large, but repetitive, and the need to 'walk' everywhere with the inevitable back and fourth really slows it down. If you're considering this game, I suggest the console version because playing it on a PC with keys makes it much harder and frustrating.
The company has promised some DLC's which will further expand the game, but the content is unknown at this time.
