Good but not great

The idea behind this game is awesome, and its implementation is almost really good. But not quite. The controls are awkward and the physics are really strange in some ways. There are some design decisions that just seem stupid. I really want to love this game, but I can't. If you're looking for a platformer with solid physics and intuitive controls, play Super Meat Boy.

On sale this is a STEAL!

I got this for $2.49... And I can tell just by playing the game for a few days this would have been well worth the original price. I got a great deal here. First, the sound track comes with the purchase. Not every game does that now-a-days. The sound track alone is worth the price of the game as far as I am concerned. It's fantastic. (Very reminiscent of a coffee house feel.) Second, the art style and flow of the game-play go hand in hand. Imagine a Sonic game that was relaxing, but still challenging. That's what it feels like playing this game. Third, I used to be a Janitor, so I think the idea of being a Super Janitor is freaking amazing. Parkour around different levels and clean up while your at it. That's the game in a nutshell. Finally, there is a ton of content. Lots and lots of levels, and they've even integrated some selected player-made levels with a recent FREE DLC. Not to mention the level editor itself is pretty dang awesome. You can make levels that look and feel like the ones the developers designed, and it's easy to use! I'm sold. I love this game. If you want a relaxing atmosphere, with challenging game-play, and a tone of content to mess around with, then check out Dustforce DX! You won't be disappointed.

Nicely flowing and satisfying Platformer

This is the kind of game that actually deserves to be on all those "Top Ten Underrated Games" lists instead of Red Dead Redemption. THis isn't a game for everyone, it requires a certain dedication and patience. THe great thing about this game is that it's fun to play on all levels. The easier levels offer a nice and relaxing experience, helped by the soundtrack that drives you in the more challenging levels. This game is at times borderline frustrating, but even when hitting my skill ceiling and when getting to the more difficult levels I often found myself starting the game up and having a crack at some of the crazy later levels which I'll probably never finish. The level design ranges from good to genius and is -most of the time- at least clever, the HUB world makes it difficult to reach the difficult levels, ensuring that you always remain on a path suitable to your skill level. If you're ever stuck on that last level, there is virtually no disadvantage to moving on to the next world. At the beginning the gameplay takes a little getting used to, but after adjusting the controls (see my recommended config at the end) you'll find yourself with a nice little gem that offers varying degrees of challenge and is quick to start up and shut down. It can be both an intense and competitive or an incredibly relaxing experience, it's really up to you. For the price you'll find yourself with a fair amount of content, so if you're looking for a skill-based platformer with a good soundtrack I recommend this at full price. This also often goes on sale for like 3 bucks and at that point it's a definite buy, because while you might only get a few hours out of it because you're not willing to invest time to master the gameplay (which is completely fine, it can feel a tad unpolished at times), at that price you're getting your money's worth. And chances are that if you're into this kinda game, you'll get a lot more out of it. Movement: WASD Dash: Shift Jump: J Attack: KL

Amazing in what it does!

Man, I remembering playing years ago and decided to pick it up again and... welp, it's a great game, with really good design and gameplay despite being a little niche (which is not the reason of my 3 star review). Truth to be told, the idea is great, its application is... medium. Basically, unless it is your genre (2d precision - although the controls are exactly precise - with no real enemies and a focus on complete perfectly a level) you'll get bored, really fast. But, if you are into this sort of thing, then Dustforce is really for you (with some minor downside in the control department... which really needed some ''polish''(Managed to insert that one)) and it is a game that you'll find yourself ''dusting off'' from the shelves for a while! (yup, sorry for the weak pun but I'm really tired).

Controls feel off

Dustforce DX is a great game. You go around cleaning with acrobatic janitors. Lack of story isn't really a big issue and neither is difficulty. The problem lies with its controls. Even after playing it for at least an hour the controls still don't feel second nature. As someone has already pointed out, this game is incredibly floaty. There's nothing to fix the sensitivity. Apart from this its a good buy. A must for speed runners or hardcore platformer fans but will be a hard time for anybody else.
