Bad Port & Hackneyed Story
When you go into the controls menu, the first thing you see is a labeled picture of an Xbox controller. I understand that such a thing may be helpful to some, because they have controllers for their PC, but it seems like a strange choice of initial impression to give their PC customers. As it turns out, however, that initial impression is representative of the whole experience. It turns out you cannot rebind the the controls at all, and the menus are unnecessarily difficult to navigate. I understand that porting games can be difficult, and that not every game is going to be prioritized for the PC, but this was unexpectedly inconvenient. The real problem with this game, however, is the incredibly hackneyed story. Male protagonist suffers amnesia and must rediscover his past while unlocking his hidden potential in order to fight a great evil, all with the help of his annoying, weak, petulant, but lovable female sidekick. I wasn't expecting a grand story from the previews, but I figured that I can put up with a lackluster story for fun gameplay; I greatly underestimated how bad it is. I regret purchasing this game, especially since it is more expensive than most games I buy on GOG.com.
