Description
Unleash your imagination into a vast, savage world, sun-scorched and wind-scraped. This series contains the radiant classics, Dark Sun: Shattered Lands, and Dark Sun: Wake of the Ravager.

Dark Sun: Shattered Lands
The Dark Sun world of Athas is arid and bleak, a wasteland with a handful of cities ruled by thousand-year-old sorcerer-kings. Your party begins as slaves in the city of Draj, destined to die as gladiators in the Arena. You must find a way to escape into the hostile wilderness, join with other escaped slaves and create a rebel force powerful enough to destroy the evil sorcerer-king's army.

Dark Sun: Wake of the Ravager
Wake of the Ravager, sequel to the mega-hit Shattered Lands, hurls you back to the scorching AD&D Dark Sun game world of Athas. A sun-blasted, wind-scraped wasteland, Athas is home to multitudes of the most horrifically mutated creatures you'll ever encounter! No wonder then that the mighty Dragon of Ur Draxa and his powerful minion, the Lord Warrior, gaze longingly upon this savage paradise: it's the perfect setting for their vile plans! If you think things on Athas couldn't possibly get hotter, think again...
  • Recruit champions of Athas to your cause from various races and classes, including Gladiators, Psionicists and Rangers
  • Level and customise your party as you traverse the sands of Athas and engage with its denizens
  • Delve into ancient mysteries and engaging plots on completing your two quests

Great but buggy

I have nothing but praises on the gameplay, theme and overall plot of this game. Everything that an RPG should have, this series had it by the truckload. So, why the obscurity? Because it's not JUST and RPG. It's a Computer RPG. The game was utterly ambitious and it shows with the epic battles, sprawling maps, interesting NPCs and inclusion of the under-utilized Psionic sub-class of classic AD&D 2nd Edition. That said, the ambitiousness of the game was probably its own downfall. I believe SSI was struggling to keep development time down, trying their utmost best to rush out this monster of a game on to the market. The 1st was a hit, even though it was marred with some gamebreaking bugs. The 2nd had respectable sales until reviews of the game came up that it had even more and worse bugs than the 1st. It was extremely disheartening to see such an original universe die out (Ha! See what I did there? Uh... Inside joke for those who knows about the Dark Sun campaign) because of mismanagement and poor control of this project. Personally, I am sick and tired of Forgotten Realms and would welcome any developers to try their hands on Dark Sun. They have a ready customer right here.

A nice surprise

I bought the game only becouse i found the box art and the setting to be very interesting, i thought i would find myself with a early post-apocalyptic/fantasy adventure game with light RPG mechanics. But what i ended up playing was a very well made rpg were both party costomization and player choice are incredibly varied, not only that but the games characters are very well written and serve greatly to enrich the setting and inmerse the player even more into the fairly dark world of "Dark Sun" ive absolutly loved and enjoyed playing this game. on an extra note i quite like the 16bit graphics not only becouse it sets up a very cool mood and feel with the game, but because of the limited games graphics i get to make use of my imagination and paint a unique image of the world for myslef

Great game. DosBox Config A Little Off?

This is a top 5 all time RPG for me. Having said that the GOG DosBox configuration on this seems to be a little off/weird? 1) The midi driver used for the music in this seems to be totally different than I remember it. It's a slightly 'higher quality' and will take some time getting used to. Not a big deal. 2) The game lags heavy in certain areas. I don't remember it lagging this much back in the day, or when I fired it up in my own DoxBox build a couple years ago. Still a great buy. Maybe the DosBox config will be tweaked in the future.

YES!!! DARK SUN! has arrived

This series has a special place in my heart. Shattered Lands, just amazing .. and even though Wake of Ravager had a lot of bugs .. still just as amazing because the combat was so deep. It's turned based, Wasteland 2/fallout 1-2/Divine Divinity : Original Sin ..but with older looking graphics. A lot of depth to the combat. Cast web, slow down enemies .. shoot fireballs (hit many),...combats great! Shattered lands had one of the most amazing end times too. Won't give it a way but when you overcome the "event" ..leave feeling very heroic. Still haven't beat Wake of Ravager , will give it another go though. Good game, must own. also check out: (if your RPG fan) Eye of the Beholder Series Menzoberranzan Ravenloft Series Each is 6! out of 5 to me as well..so damn good

A True Classic

This is by far one of my favorite games of all time. The story line is great. There is twists and turn depending on choices. It consumed many hours of my life and I ran it for years in a DOS emulator. Anyone who like a great game that will keep you involved will love this. Yes the graphics are not up to par with today's games, but the game play more than makes up for it.This will always be one of my favorites and now that i can get it on GOG i am one happy camper.
