Dungeon Siege

Dungeon Siege combines the immersive elements of a role-playing game with over-the-top intensity and non-stop action. Dungeon Siege plunges you into a continuous 3D fantasy world where you face off against an army of evil that has been unleashed.

You begin as a humble farmer, and as you travel through the world and gain new skills, you can gather a party of up to eight characters to aid you. Dungeon Siege impels the player into one over-the-top battle after the other as the storyline unfolds and a larger plot begins to reveal itself.

A world of adventure where you can explore sprawling landscapes in a seamlessly unfolding story awaits...

Dungeon Siege II

It’s been a generation since you vanquished the evil that plagued the Land of Ehb, and now…a new menace has awakened. In Dungeon Siege II, the sequel to the best-selling RPG from Gas Powered Games, you will be called on to again wield sword and spell to save the world from a growing abomination many years in the making.

A thousand years ago, the crusaders of Azunai crossed swords with the legions of Zaramoth in the final battle of a century-long rebellion. As the tyrannical god Zaramoth struck the final blow through Azunai’s trembling shield, the earth shook. In that moment, the forces of magic were unchained, and both armies were consumed in a brilliant cataclysm that stretched for leagues across the Plain of Tears. Only a scarred wasteland remained as final testament to the First Age of Man.

And for a millennium, magic has continued to spread to the farthest corners of the world, freely flowing to any who would command it. But the tide of magic has begun to wane, heeding instead the call of an ancient legacy. From the Plain of Tears a new heir beckons, and with each day his strength grows. Consuming those who submit, eradicating those who resist. With none to oppose his ascendance, the circle will be complete, and an ancient age will begin anew.

What fate will befall the Second Age of Man? The time for judgment is nigh.

Dungeon Siege III

For centuries legionnaires have protected the nation of Ehb until they were betrayed and all but driven to the brink of extinction. Now that evil has returned to Ehb the people turn to the few remaining Legionnaires for the protection of the past. As an heir to the legion will you accept this plea for help? How it will all be resolved is up to you!

Dungeon Siege III is an Action RPG that seamlessly blends intuitive fast-paced gameplay, a robust RPG system featuring a large selection of abilities, loot galore and the depth of story Square-Enix and Obsidian Entertainment are known for creating.

Dungeon Siege III also supports Polish and Russian language (text).

Dungeon Siege III: Treasures of the Sun

In Dungeon Siege III: Treasures of the Sun, players will extend their journey and travel beyond the borders of Ehb to an all-new environment: the Aranoi Desert. On their search for a lost Legion hero, players will fight through hordes of new villains only to find a forgotten abbey hiding a long-lost secret: the greatest treasure of the Azunite faith.

Key features:
  • New abilities: Players will be able to attain mastery of the arcane through powerful new attack, defense and healing abilities.
  • Level up to 35: Treasures of the Sun will further power up players by raising Dungeon Siege III's existing level cap from 30 to 35.
  • More monsters and items: Players will encounter new monsters in the Aranoi Desert—including mummies and giant skeletons—and will find more powerful items, adding to the thousands already available in Dungeon Siege III.
  • Reallocate Talent & Proficiency Points: Players can reallocate points spent in Proficiencies and Talents, enabling changes to character customization throughout the campaign.
  • New Enchanting System: Transmuting items now gives players chances at gaining powerful new Vials that allow them to enhance their weapons and armor through the DLC’s new enchanting system.

Where's the rest of it?

What made dungeon siege good is playing it with a few friends in a LAN coop yet this release has multiplayer disabled. I'm honestly not sure the game can hold itself up without the banter of multiplayer. Dungeon Siege 1 without Legends of Aranna is half a game at best. Dungeon Siege 2 without Broken Worlds doesn't even have an ending. Dungeon Siege 3 ... Well, its why there isn't a Dungeon Siege 4 ... But hey the forced hard tethering in multiplayer that broke the camera angles won't be a thing as its not multiplayer anymore so I guess that's a fix? So to sum it up this is half of Dungeon Siege 1, three-quarters of Dungeon Siege 2, and a third game you won't want to play if you enjoyed the first two.

Not worth buying because the missing DLC

Unfortunately the missing DLC geatly limit the play experience. Square Enix has long been dismissive of, or outright hostile to, mods and 3rd party additions. Things that are arguably necessary to make such old games playable by modern standards. Just look at the prices of the old FF games on any device. They are certainly one of the most anti-consumer of the big publishers.

Expansions and Ultima mods

I see a lot of complaints about missing expansions for DS1&2, and the Ultima mods (U5Lazarus & U6P) being uplayable... ...but I got it all to work by following the instructions for the "Killah" fixes posted in some of the other reviews. Yes, ALL of it. Legends of Aranna, Broken Worlds, Multiplayer, U5Lazarus, and U6P. ...and I got it all working on a linux notebook, so I'd guess that getting it to work under native windows would be much easier, You've just got to read all the instructions and follow them. Would've given 5 stars, but docked one because, well, 2 things. [1]: The collection SHOULD'VE come with the expansions/multiplayer in the first place, I shouldn't've had to manually fudge about getting them to work, and [2]: It still does crash every once in awhile (DS1, at least). Save often and it's not a huge problem, but it can be annoying.

5 stars for the series.

On the internet there are the files of the first two games’ expansions by someone named Killah and they work in GOG’s version of DS games. Tried them. So, I’ll write here a bit about every game. DS1: Very good game for someone new to action-RPGs. Simple story and action. You just walk and hit enemies. Mostly automated combat and lvl-up. No points to spend, the more you use a skill, the more it will be raised. No enemy respawn. You never turn back. You keep going forward. Side quests on your way with some minor deviations. Very small inventory space, you’ll be needing many pack-mules to have with you, until you reach the next merchant (if you collect everything). 51 h for me. Legends of Aranna: a bit more complex locations, teleporters at important spots, additional backpack for characters, long parallel unwritten side quest about lost parents. 37 h. Return to Arhok: continues after LoA. 4 h. DS2: Much more content, deeper quests, bigger locations, more secrets. Visiting previous places is required for side quests. Most enemies respawn if you exit and re-enter. Fortunately no lvl-scaling. Only one save slot and only your condition is saved, not your location. You start again from nearest town. Teleporters at important spots. Fully voiced lines. Don’t spread your earned points in many skills. Cliffhanger ending, which makes… Broken World: …necessary. Also, if installed, it makes DS2 harder than vanilla DS2, it reduces skill percentages and gold found. But it’s worth it and it concludes not only the main story, but some sides as well. DS3 & exp.: Not point&click, controls almost like a cRPG. Constant enemy respawn. In some cases you can stop it by doing sth. Difficult melee combat, easier ranged. Interesting plot with some twists and decisions with long term consequences. Checkpoint saving, but your location is saved too. Multiple save slots. No bugs, no crashes. 29 h. Negative: Short lvl-cap (35), if you tend to do everything. I’d certainly buy a fourth part.

No expansions for DS1 and DS2

Like everyone else says: No expansions means half of DS1 and DS2 are actually released here. So you ARE going to release the expansion for DS3, because that's the worst game out of all of them? Wonderful! Thanks Squ. Enix.
