Great atmosphere, reminiscent of games like Gothic 1 and 2. The game and its developers take the player seriously and trust them to think independently when solving puzzles and completing quests.
I'm still at the beginning of the game but right now It is pleasure to play Drova. It's not the best or my favourite RPG of all time, but still this is solid game with a lot of well desgined rpg mechanics. I love concept where you level up character skills by talking with npc "masters". It's great to discover everything by yourself without any minimaps, ingame gps or tag's on your map. I didnt meet any bugs or issues, so this game seems to be polished. Hovewer in comparison to Gothic, I dont see "this" humor in dialogues but maybe it's just me.
In my opinion story is good but I still have troubles to get into it.
In summary Drova is a quite good game with a lot of oldschool rpg mechanics. I can recommend this game if someone like oldschool rpg's but for someone who loves the newest instantions of RPG video games, drova can be overwhelming.
I liked this game from the start. It is easy to get into, a lot to discover and motivates to dig deeper into the game world. There's no excessive management to keep track of e.g. the character can carry infinite items. Still it's far from easy, many areas are inaccessible in the beginning, when the character is yet too weak. It is still fun to try and beat some more difficult enemies early on.
There is no voice output but the style used in the game with the NPC showing gestures is fitting. Dialogs are not too lengthy while there is still an interesting story to follow. There is little handholding in some areas, for example no fast travel and no map markers that show where to go. Sometimes this can lead to difficult situations when you don't exactly where to go next. This have been only a few instances, though, and generally it feels natural to navigate manually. Although lots of places can / have to be visited multiple times it doesn't become boring.
There is not much offered with regards to choices in the game. You can choose one of two factions and I believe the outcome with both factions will be pretty similar. One major story development is kind of bad development / decision that cannot be prevented, has to be actively contributed to. This was a bit unexpected but still has an interesting touch to it in the end. The player can show remorse afterwards and try to act better.
This game has more to offer aside from the nostalgia trip.
For those comfortable with pixel art, the exploration and fair challenge this will feel like a warm cup of your favourite hot beverage.
Only minor gripes I have are with the dialoge here and there.
Big thumbs up.
