Relaxing Fun With a LIttle Creepy
Most of the time I games that are supposed to be relaxing, but have time constraints, to actually make me a little stressed. For example, Stardew Valley. Trying to figure out how to do everything I want to do in a day, before time runs out, causes me anxiety. Trying to remember all the various things that need doing on the farm, or for the community, stresses me out at times. Having that timer, both in hours during the day, and a calandar that marks days as they go by, and changes seasons, inevitably causes me at least a low-level of unwanted tension. Dredge, has a lot of similar time elements to it. You have a certain number of daylight hours to accomplish the things you want to accomplish, before darkness settles in, and things get creepy and dangerous. But, I find that I've made peace with the time cycle in Dredge, and it doesn't cause me unnecessary tension. Being on the seas at night, causes me tension, as it's supposed to, but it's a good type of tension, that I welcome in a game like this. Lots to do, places to explore, people to meet. It drew me in soon after starting, and I continue to be enthralled by this game. Highly recommend.
