Casablanca, 2219 -- Zoë Castillo is, at first glance, a very normal young woman, but she is about to get involved in a conspiracy that spans parallel worlds and hundreds of years. Something is affecting the world -- static interference is disrupting technology, causing Zoë to see visions of a ghostly presence that is inhabiting a black house in a wintry landscape. As Zoë embarks on a journey where she eventually discovers a magical world behind our own, she will need to make decisions about what's important to her and what she's willing to risk for the people she loves. Zoë will need all her courage to unravel the dangerous web in which she, and the world around her, is entangled.

Where the Journey has taken you

For anyone who has played The Longest Journey this is an absolute must. To see what became of the characters of the first game and how time has treated them is heart-wrenching. Never before or since has a series of games made me so emotionally invested in its characters. So do yourself a favor and play this game and its predecessor right now. The story is unsurpassed in the medium, fantasy-sci fi at its best. Yes it has some gameplay issues but that should not deter you from enjoying this masterpiece. You won't find a story like this anywhere. Also the 3rd game in the series is now on its way (November 2014)

I really enjoyed this game

I have to say that after finishing the game I was surprised by how dark and depressing the story is. The open ending also surprised me and annoyed me a little, but I'm already looking forward to playing Dreamfall Chapters, which I hope will bring the story to a satisfactory conclusion. As for the technical side, I was pleasantly surprised that it is still a pretty good-looking game (even on a 4k TV), which is greatly helped by the interesting locations. The game was also very stable. Unfortunately the game does not support xinput, so I had to remap the gamepad every time I started it (maybe because CZ version of Windows). The game also does not like ALT+TAB and almost every time I returned to the game, the controls stopped responding and it had to be restarted. In terms of gameplay, there are quite lot of fetch quests and running around locations. Stealth passages are sometimes quite annoying. It is sometimes little difficult to figure out what needs to be done with some characters and the combat system is horrendous (thankfully it can often be avoided). Overall the gameplay feels dated. However, the setting, story, dialogues and voice acting more than make up for it, so I had a great time most of the time (and I would really like to see a movie/TV series based on Dreamfall/Longest journey games) ;-)

A breath of fresh air!

In this slop infested game market, it's always great to go back in time, to see how games were made. I saw gameplay on this many years ago, as as a kid, there was the cable tv show about games. I don't remember what it was called but I saw the "ring" inspired girl and wondered- what is the story about. Man the story is really good- I really enjoyed all the characters, although I think it's important to watch a recap of the longest journey so you have some idea what the story is about. Just some negatives, well the combat is bad. It has not aged well to say the least. And it ends on a huge cliffhanger. Some plot threads go unfinished. So I will buy Dreamfall chapters to finish this story, but don't buy it thinking you will get a satisfying ending.

A good game.

It's just a good game, but it's not in the same league TLJ is. The story is OK but ends in a cliffhanger. I thing cliffhangers are cheesy. I also think combat and sealth could be left ouy of this game.
