love it

1.Is it truly DRM-free? Yes it is. The option to log in your Bioware account still exists but it adds nothing to the game. 2. Does it contain all the DLCs? After last hotfix the game got all the content. Game on 3. Is it the full soundtrack? Not really . What we get is the Collector's edition OST that includes 18 tracks(7 of them aren't in Official OST) while the Official OST includes 35 tracks ( for more info : http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Dragon_Age:_Origins_(soundtrack) 4. Can I use my old save from Steam/Origin/Disk/etc ? Yes you can continue your adventures as Grey Warden if you have an old save. So apart from that : its a good game, must play for RPGs fan yada-yada-yada and you can keep on hating EA too.

Great game - a couple of tips

Play it at 1600 x900 - then all the text and graphics are clear. Quicksave before going through a door, especially one leading to a new area. If it crashes on startup then, instead of using Resume, Load an old save then the current save - works every time for me.

Great

I've ever finished one Bethesda RPG - Fallout New Vegas, you know, the one made by Obsidian. Why do I start my review like this? because I've finished this game multiple times, each time with all the DLC, the expansion and all optional quests. Around 160 hours per playthrough. Now, does that mean this game is a masterpiece? NO. It just means I really, really like the game. That being said, the graphics haven't aged as well as one might have hoped, and the game still has it's fair share of bugs, but it at least doesn't need an unofficial patch like RPGs from other developers whose name starts with the second letter of the alphabet. The GOG version has the advantage of being as close to complete as one can hope considering EA's original release model and plethora of retailer specific DLCs. The price is also acceptable for a game that's this good and this old. What else can I say? I really enjoyed this game and when it comes to RPGs it's up there with Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines as one of my all time favourites. Again, I'm not saying you will enjoy it. I'm partial to story and narrative driven RPGs, and there are still enough exploits in the game that you can play the entire game at the highest difficultly without much of a sweat. If you're looking for the best combat experience you can find in a game like this one you will be disappointed. If you're looking for hyper realistic graphics, you will be disappointed. If you're looking for a great fantasy narrative and story set in an interesting fantasy world, then, this might be that one gem you haven't yet discovered.

Astonishing

If Baldur's Gate was re-created in modern gaming, it would be Dragon Age. The combat is of the highly tactical kind. Pause the game in combat, zoom out to overhead view, and plan ahead. You can have up to four characters in your party, which can be micro-managed. I recommend playing on the highest difficulty for the ultimate experience. The story is high fantasy at its finest, of the grand scale. Dragons, sorcery, a kingdom at war with the "darkspawn", so many elements that will appeal to fans of fantasy. The soundtrack is also excellent. Choose between several different races and classes, and begin your epic journey! I spent over 50 hours on my playthrough of the base game, feeling that I had but grazed the surface of a mountain of sidequests. If you're a completionist, you can easily get a three-figured number of hours out of this. All expansions are included, mostly good (Darkspawn Chronicles is the only one I didn't like). Some are in the game, others are stand-alone campaigns. Awakening is definitely worth your time. Never a boring moment. The amount of content you get in this package is astonishing! Not every location of the game is equally awesome though. If you're playing on a high difficulty, The Deep Roads can get really tiresome. I took a break from my playthrough there. Hordes upon hordes of enemies behind every door, and seemingly never-ending bland tunnels and caves. You could always turn down the difficulty and breeze through though. Having fun is the most important part! :) For being a now seven year old game, it looks quite nice on the highest settings. The details are abundant, and you will see some shiny spell effects. You can zoom in very closely in pause-mode, and stuff does look good even when perused up close. All in all, Dragon Age: Origins is an excellent game, and my favorite of the Dragon Age-series. The combat is not action-based, but a pause-and-manage type of gameplay. The perfect game to play while relaxing with a good ale :)

Last good Bioware fantasy game

Best of the series by far (not a hard thing to achieve lol) and one of the last good bioware games imho + writing, characters and story (although generic fantasy its well told) + very dark and atmospheric + nice mix of tactics and action - visuals. It wasnt best looking when it came out and the visuals aged extremely poorly - world feels empty and lifeless (problem with a lot of bioware games) Overall 8/10 by FAR the best in the franchise..however didnt age very well
