Great game with a few caveats
First i'd like to start by saying that this is my first review and is based on the windows 10 version without mods. The GOG Launcher does not load the game, it will run the configure/system information tool and then close. the only way to start the game is to run the binary from the folder or edit the shortcut on desktop if you elected to add one during installation. this game is not optimized for multi-core processors and will leak memory, you can limit core affinity to 1 core while running the game. you can get the 4gb x86 file patcher from NTCore listed on the gog support forum, there are a lot of bugs on 64-bit systems and no easy fix from some, but there are fan created mods that supposedly fix them btw, this game has an awesome mod community!

Very well-written RPG-style hack-n-slash
I've been wanting to try out Dragon Age: Origins for a long time and I'm sure glad I chose to do so at this time while the games on sale. I haven't been playing for long as of the typing of this review, but I can already tell the DAO developers had put allot of thought into the storyline, which is in my opinion very well-written. All the dialog choices my character can contribute within all the cutscene animation movie sequences also make's feel completely immersed in a Sci-Fi movie that I cannot turn away from and I very is nice touch. The graphics is also spot on and very well done and all the character models is very well-crafted. What amazed me the most was and still is all the additional content that the Ultimate Edition came with the base game. The best part is the GOG version of Dragon Age: Origins - The Ultimate Edition is completely DRM-free which makes it awfully nice not having to use either Steam, GOG or any other game client that can sometimes just get in the way of gameplay. In addition to all this, Dragon Age: Origins I find to be completely playable on Windows 10, and the base game has not even crashed so far and remains to be very stable. All in all, I'm extremely pleased with my purchase and find this game to be thoroughly enjoyable.

Great game, terrible technical state
I'm almost at the very end of the Awakening expansion and I can say that both the base game and its expansions are great. The story, while not groundbreaking today, is very well crafted. The gameplay seems a bit dated (and it is in some ways) but after a while, and after unlocking some abilities, gets really fun. Voice acting and dialogs are also top notch. All that pales in comparison to the true strength of this game: companions. Their conversations, stories and interactions are awesome. And their banter during the exploration is hilarious. I think that BioWare made it better in Mass Effect series, but that's probably the highest bar there is. If I can still compare companions from Origins to Mass Effect, that must mean something good, right? So why only 2 stars? Because, even after some many years, this game is full of bugs and sadly they will never be fixed. There are plenty of situations where you cen get locked out of some quests for good (mods help sometimes). The game randomly crashes every once in a while. It is especially problematic in battles, where you cannot save. Oh, and when you load the last save after one of those crashes, the game often crashes again right before loading. I don't know if I'll be able to finish the expansion because of this problem... This might be the most broken game I've played and I played Cyberpunk 2077 on launch :). The game sometimes borders on unplayable. Beware! It's a shame that this game is in such a poor state.

Good thing we have this
Veilguard may be a steaming pile, but I am just replaying this and happy that I can. I cannot belive the idiots looked a game this beautiful, dark, and distinct, then made a cartoonish mess as a sequel.
