Dragon Age™: Origins - Ultimate Edition

It hurts to say that this is not it. I can't even comment on the game because of the continuos crashes and stutters. I understand that it was not meant to be run on modern hardware, but I cannot buy a game that doesn't even function properly. Currently searching for fixes and patches online, tried some of them and nothing works.

One of my favorite games from one of my favorite franchises. Just so good. Classic Bioware goodness!

This is my guilty pleasure game. right amount of gore, right amount of fun. Playing as a dwarf for the first time. Dward commoner at that!

This is just a technical review of this GOG edition. (The game itself is amazing and deserves 5 stars) It works perfectly fine IF you enable all CPU cores manually after launching the game (Ctrl+Alt+Del => Details => right click on DAOringins.exe => Set affinity => All cores checked) I play on 1920x1080p monitor. Perhaps the game is unstable on higher resolution, so beware. I play on max graphics, everything is smooth (always more than 60 FPS). I had 0 crash. My computer = GTX 1080 i7 6700K 16 Go RAM. HDD use. So, even if GOG does not fix the CPU affinity issue, you can easily enjoy this masterpiece. Take care adeventurers!

The game by itself works great hence the 3 stars. But installation of any content through the DAupdater refuses to work. All I get is the "content was created for an updated version of the game" warning. This prevents modded and other content being used installed. Modding is a key component of DAO and it's been eliminated by this error. Dragon Age toolset can't be installed because the installation cannot detect the installation of the game in the GOG folder. The toolset fix to prevent this problem is in the toolset. The toolset installation is supposed to be in the game folder from GOG, but it does not exist anywhere in the game folder or at GOG. I'm forced to use a download from EA which doesn't work with the GOG version of the game. The other fix is adding an entry to the registry. I'm not about to go messing with my computer's programming. In short, the GOG initiative to same older games is a great idea. It's just not working for DAO. I'll be heading back to EA and writing off this purchase. Sorry.
