Description
Door Kickers is an innovative real-time strategy game that puts you in charge of a SWAT team and lets you command them during a tactical intervention. Analyze the situation, plan team routes, choose equipment, breach points and coordinate multiple troopers to reach the hostage room before the bad guys get to press that trigger.

It may sound daunting, and like real world CQB combat, it sure is. But most levels can be completed in minutes, and on the fly improvisation works. Achieving the perfect plan for getting the mission done with no false steps; that is a skill not easily mastered.
  • 2D, Top Down for optimal tactical analysis
  • Real time with free pause
  • No turns, no hexes, no action points or awkward interfaces
  • Realistic and action packed
  • Non-linear levels, freeform gameplay
  • Mission editor and modability
  • Unlimited gameplay via mission and campaign generators

it's actually 5/5, but there's an issue

To respond to danatblair's review first - you do know you can just restart a campaign mission, right? This might sound comical, but - tangoes opening doors during missions tends to disrupt a single plan entirely, as operatives won't bother flashing a room after stacking up in front of an opened door. How hard would it be to make them flash the room regardless? This is really the only reason I'm giving the game 4 out of 5 stars, I've had numerous severely frustrating situations because of this issue. Now, as for the review. If you've ever played any of the first three Rainbow Six games, this game'll be somewhat familiar to you. It's as if someone turned the planning phase of those and turned it into a pausable RTS in which you control up to 8 SWAT officers engaging in the usual sorts of anti-terrorist missions (neutralize all tangoes, rescue the hostages, rescue the hostage(s) scheduled for execution, defuse the bomb). There are single missions (and a lot of them too) that earn you up to three stars individually, depending on how well you perform. With these stars, you buy weapons and equipment. There are five classes, each of which have different roles - pointman, assault, stealth, breacher, and shield. I found the stealth class not to be rather effective in terms of sneaking around, but I love it nonetheless because it feels cool. When a mission starts, you choose starting points for your operatives. During the planning phase, you draw waypoints for each of them. You have go-codes (there's 4, I wish there were more), you can choose which way you want your operatives to face, you can break down doors, unlock them, breach-and-clear and flash-and-clear rooms - really a sufficient amount of options. One thing I dislike is not being able to save my plans - it being fairly easy to delete an entire path for an operative, this mechanic would be welcome. Highly suggested for the fans of le tactical operations.

Good gameplay Bad perks & Grind

Gameplay is good, however the game is too grindy, guns apear to be always the same (visually) in your charater, so basicly all the grind is for just numbers and stats, also why the need for perks? silly and completly unnecessary. its like your just tiking boxes on what you think ppl "enjoy" these days I Preffer like in rainbowsix3 or swat4 were u have all your material available to you, witout the need for grind, let us focus on planning and gameplay - the mobile like spirit and ideas almost ruins this title alone, shame. but hey got it for 2euro so cant complain that much

Great Linux supported game

Top down SWAT 4 type game. Loving the upgrades and campaigns. You need to select your upgrades and classes before each mission. Specifying the guns for the specific map. Gets progressively more difficult each mission. Very quick and intense action as the swat team execute the steps you have laid out for them. And nothing beats the satisfying timing of a double entry into a house and dropping the enemy in ten seconds flat. Really fun strongly recommend it. Also for any Linux users im playing without the proprietary drivers and it works great.

Fun, Challenging, Needs a Little Work

This is one of the most fun and challenging games I've played in a long time. It's rewarding to see my team members level up, and to unlock skills and weapons. The upgrade tree was not as immediately obvious as I hoped, and I would love to see more upgrades for my team. I would like to see the ability to include hand-to-hand combat upgrades, as it is not as fulfilling to just shoot it out. Seeing an officer to take down and arrest a hostile would be great. More than once I've re-started a level because one of my guys would just shoot (and die), instead of doing the more realistic thing and close the distance for an arrest The map editor is pretty easy to use, and did not take me long at all to start creating maps. Some of the options are not as user-friendly as they could be, but the basics are easy enough. The campaigns are tough. The first one took me a while to complete, and I have not yet dared to try the later ones.

Coop in door kickers!?

So there seems to be a problem to find other players in coop on gogs version. I tried to play with my friends that got a steam version and we didnt found eachother. I bought The game because of the multiplayer so that was a game breaker for me.
