Developed by id software, the studio that pioneered the first-person shooter genre and created multiplayer Deathmatch, DOOM returns as a brutally fun and challenging modern-day shooter experience. Relentless demons, impossibly destructive guns, and fast, fluid movement provide the foundation for intense, first-person combat.
Story
You’ve come here for a reason. The Union Aerospace Corporation’s massive research facility on Mars is overwhelmed by fierce and powerful demons, and only one person stands between their world and ours. As the lone DOOM Marine, you’ve been activated to do one thing – kill them all.
A Relentless Campaign
There is no taking cover or stopping to regenerate health as you beat back Hell’s raging demon hordes. Combine your arsenal of futuristic and iconic guns, upgrades, movement and an advanced melee system to knock-down, slash, stomp, crush, and blow apart demons in creative and violent ways.
Please note: The DRM-Free version of DOOM (2016) is single-player only. Multiplayer and online functionality for SnapMap are not included. SnapMap content is unlocked by default.
The game is still amazing even after 9 years, the gameplay is solid, the music is top notch and the atmosphere is great. It is a bummer however that multiplayer was cut but at least snapmap is stjll there, not to mention, its DRM-Free baby! I honestly hope that Bethesda and Id Software brings Doom Eternal here, I bought it on PS4 but I'm willing to double dip just to own it on PC DRM-Free.
This was a game I bought day1 when it came out back in 2016 and it just did not disappoint. I'm replaying it now that GOG got it and it's just pure rippin' tearin' heaven :)
id/Bethesda/Microsoft/GOG - THANK YOU for releasing this absolute banger gem on GOG for us to finally immortalize!
Now... how can DOOM Eternal be "eternal" if it's riddled with DRM..? You know what to do next... :)
Not much else that's unsaid about Doom (2016). It's almost a decade old now, and still worth playing even if it's slower and somewhat inefficient in some aspects compared to its sequel. Strictly as a port on GOG, Doom (2016) is pared down to only the singleplayer campaign, its best aspect. We still get the unbroken first-person narrative where Doomguy communicates his anger, mercy, and occasional cunning with only his hands.
It may just be my PC, but I get some weird frame dips when using my mouse in menus like the Argent Core stat upgrade selector and pause menu. Other than that, the gameplay is buttery-smooth.
