Developed by id software, the studio that pioneered the first-person shooter genre and created multiplayer Deathmatch, DOOM returns as a brutally fun and challenging modern-day shooter experience. Relentless demons, impossibly destructive guns, and fast, fluid movement provide the foundation for intense, first-person combat.
Story
You’ve come here for a reason. The Union Aerospace Corporation’s massive research facility on Mars is overwhelmed by fierce and powerful demons, and only one person stands between their world and ours. As the lone DOOM Marine, you’ve been activated to do one thing – kill them all.
A Relentless Campaign
There is no taking cover or stopping to regenerate health as you beat back Hell’s raging demon hordes. Combine your arsenal of futuristic and iconic guns, upgrades, movement and an advanced melee system to knock-down, slash, stomp, crush, and blow apart demons in creative and violent ways.
Please note: The DRM-Free version of DOOM (2016) is single-player only. Multiplayer and online functionality for SnapMap are not included. SnapMap content is unlocked by default.
Took the original formula and add new things to make it even better. The atmosphere, the story telling and the action all comes together to create a master piece.
It's DOOM—a fast-paced FPS. It closely resembles the first game in the franchise from way back in 1993 (I think). The controls are fluid, the music is great, and so far, I haven't found any bugs in the game (and I'm a highly skilled software engineer specializing in testing). It runs surprisingly well on my old computer, equipped with Windows 10, a generic SSD, an i5-3570 processor, a GT 1030 GPU, and 16 GB of RAM.
That said, my analysis may be biased since I've been playing DOOM for over 30 years, so...I absolutely love it.
Most importantly, I love you guys at GOG. You're always bringing us those lovely games (SimCity, Brothers in Arms, TES I, II, III, IV, V, DOOM, Medal of Honor...), which is why I have hundreds of games from GOG. I hope one day you'll add the first three Age of Empires games—they would be a perfect fit for my GOG collection.
As soon as Doom 2016 became available on GOG I purchased it.
I own a copy on Steam and have more than 200 hours playing only single player mode. Everything about Doom 2016 rocks. The setting and story is awesome, the gun play kicks righteous ass, and man the music makes you feel like a one man wrecking machine.
Some people might feel a little iffy about the $20 price tag for a 10 year old game and rather buy it when it is on sale. Nonetheless, no matter what price point you choose, all you need to know is you MUST have this game in your collection so you too can Rip and Tear, until it is done.
