Description

You are invited to join “The Primate Observation Club”, where you will observe the lives of caged monkeys and carefully analyze the information obtained.

GLOSSARY OF TERMS:

  • THE PRIMATE OBSERVATION CLUB: a shadowy group that observes other people through surveillance cameras and compromised webcams.
  • YOU: the newest member of the CLUB, tired of your run-down apartment, dull existence and boring job.
  • MONKEYS: dozens of strangers who have fallen prey to your voyeurism.
  • VOYEURISM: Exactly what you think it is (and also the reason why we’re rated “MATURE”).
  • PRIVACY: Something that the monkeys think they have.
  • PC (PERSONAL COMPUTER): Yep, we put a PC in your game that’s on your PC so that you can work on a PC while you’re playing the game that’s on your PC!
  • FEEDING THE MONKEYS: Interacting or interfering with the subjects in any way. Feeding the monkeys is strictly prohibited.
  • SHIT HITTING THE FAN: What may (or may not) happen if you feed the monkeys.

Oddly enough, club members keep feeding the monkeys as though they just can’t abide by this very simple rule! How about you? Will you help those you’re spying on, extort them, expose them and sabotage their dreams, or will you follow your instructions and sit twiddling your thumbs while the world burns?

Great, well-written light simulator

with management and point-and-click elements The core of the game consists of watching different video feeds (starting with an initial four and gradually scaling up in numbers as the game progresses) and taking notes of the scene and what the monitored individuals say. Sounds boring on paper, but the game balances multitasking – watching several concurrent scenes at once – and light management – time, hunger, health and finances of the unnamed protagonist – really well (especially initially. Once you get the hang of a scene, you spend less time observing it (time literally is money in this one, and money can buy you all the health, food and even sleep you will need), as well as you can choose your preferred way to close it) Think “Papers, please” in terms of pacing and storytelling, where they were just as important in making the game actually fun. The recurring vignettes vary in content, personally I enjoyed each of them. The game features more feeds in total than a single game can accommodate, and there are multiple ways in which every feed (excluding some filler views, that is) can be “closed”, so the game is replayable. The excellent diversified music (including classical, Latin, country and a genuinely swinging jazz band) running muffled in the background complements the mood perfectly. On the minus side – the game could be longer. I genuinely loved playing this one. Fans of Papers, Please or just pixel art strategy/adventure games in general should definitely give it a shot

Does what it says on the tin

Somehow "camera voyeur" became an entire burgeoning genre, and this game is in that genre. Watch some cameras, see some scandalous secrets, decide whether to intervene in the lives of strangers, do all this while juggling your health and finances. The time management elements can be stressful. The scenarios you spy on are cute but rarely as deep or open-ended as they initially appear. Moment to moment it's fun but it never really comes together into something larger than its individual vignettes. If the game sounded fun to you based on its blurb, you'll likely enjoy, but it won't shake your world.

Great game, leaves you wanting even more

A very fun game. I'd love to see more. My only slight criticism is that I feel like the games ends a bit too soon and some of the stories would be awesome if they lasted a bit longer and you could dig a little deeper into their back story and into the interactions. It has great replayability value.

entertaining, addictive, stressful

Was hoping for an experience like what Papers Please gave, this game has all the addictive fun but only a slight emotional impact. The gameplay is fun, you navigate from various cameras and solve mini mysteries regarding what you see, or not, the story is very fluid with different outcomes depending on your actions/inactions. This allows for multiple restarts as you try and get all the endings. Throughout all is a timer, which hampers the fun greatly, timers are money (to pay rent, buy more cameras, food), plus story timers to solve mysteries or subplots, for which you gain large rewards. there are insta fail events which cause game overs. each game is randomly generated which resets which stories you get, you still start in same place, just different events. Its a bit clunky at times dealing with the multiple windows, people knocking on your door and micro managing physical needs and jobs. you get different clues at different times so it pays to keep an eye on the camera, but that damn timer has you pull off to earn money, grocery shop etc. After playing for several hours im tired of it. Having the same scenarios play out and solving for each whilst you wait for new events gets old. I wish they had a better story mode, as I do want to see all the events and cameras and their final stories, which is quite interesting to see the final camera shots displayed. endings are abrupt with story cards concluding your actions and feel pretty shallow and unsatisfying. i was hoping for a more indepth and emotionally charged time with the game, got instead a light fun time waster with repetitive gameplay and a sense of grinding in order to gain new scenarios. get it on deep sale and enjoy

Fun game

I would like to see a sequel. It left me wishing for more stories and endings. The food/sleep system is a little tedious at first, but only for a while.
