Gather your party and get ready for a new, back-to-the-roots RPG adventure! Discuss your decisions with companions; fight foes in turn-based combat; explore an open world and interact with everything and everyone you see. Join up with a friend to play online in co-op and make your own adventures with the powerful RPG toolkit.

In Divinity:Original Sin you take on the role of a young Source Hunter: your job is to rid the world of those who use the foulest of magics. When you embark on what should have been a routine murder investigation, you suddenly find yourself in the middle of a plot that will rattle the very fabric of time.

Divinity: Original Sin is a game that gives you a lot of freedom and plenty of gameplay mechanics to use or abuse. The game's epic story may drive you toward your ultimate end-goal, but how you get there is entirely up to you.

Or up to you and a friend, because Divinity: Original Sin can be played completely cooperatively, and features both online and local drop-in/drop-out multiplayer. Great adventures become even greater when shared with a trusted comrade-in-arms!
Enhanced Edition features 1000's of enhancements including split-screen cooperative play and Source Hunter DLC.

Everything's more fun with a friend and Original Sin is no different! Drop-in, drop-out multiplayer lets you play online or in your living room, with local split-screen co-op and a controller-friendly UI. Adventure together or explore completely different places, right from the same sofa!

- Hear the world come alive with full AAA voice-overs for all characters
- Enjoy a bigger and better story, with new quests, locations, and characters with new dialogue.
- Discover new battle styles with Dual Wielding, Wands, and Grenades - Try new game modes including Explorer Mode (for players who want to focus on story and/or are genre novices) and Honour Mode (for experienced tacticians ready to face brutal encounters, puzzles, and new monsters)
- New and improved user interface, graphics, animations, sounds, and visual effects
  • Become part of a reactive, living and vast open world. Explore many different environments, fight all kinds of fantastical creatures and discover tons of desirable items.
  • Experience gripping party- and turn-based combat. Manipulate the environment and use skill & spell combos to overcome your many foes: Use magic to make it rain on your enemies, then cast a lightning spell to fry them to a crisp.
  • Experiment with different skill combinations to ruin the day for enemies and townspeople alike.
  • Play with a friend in co-op multiplayer. Make decisions together (or disagree entirely), as your interactions and relationship with your partner influence the game.
  • Unravel a deep and epic story, set in the early days of the Divinity universe. No prior experience with other Divinity games is necessary, however. The game takes place well before its predecessors, Divine Divinity and Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga, but will still feel familiar to fans.
  • Classless character creation lets you design the character of your choice. Endless item interaction and combinations take exploration and experimentation to another level of freedom.

Dull story and buggy but not totally bad

No, this isn't a masterpiece. The story is dull and muddled and the quest marker system is totally dysfunctional. So most of the time, you don't really know what you're supposed to do or why. Also the quest design is totally flawed. Like the game allows you to approach things differently at times like breaking a door open instead of finding a key, but then the scripting doesn't accept the solution and you're stuck. Besides, lots of the "riddles" are a PITA as they involve very explicit actions like reading a scroll or wearing an amulet at a certain location or manually crafting an item. Actually the whole management of quest items is flawed. They are named wrong, shown in the wrong inventory tab, described erratically in dialogs and (my favorite) can be destroyed by crafting. So crafting spell books repeatedly (!) destroys quest items like scrolls. Potentially, these bugs are game breaking. For sure they made it impossible for me to finish quite a few side quests. There were several cases where I actually couldn't tell if my way to proceed (like teleporting through walls or force fields) was intended or a bug or just my only way around a game breaking bug. These bugs and design flaws extend to the fight system. Like the target cursor tends to jump around, enemies get stuck for minutes, targeting items like oil barrels makes your character go there and pick them up instead of destroying them and grenades tend to land anywhere but not in the displayed target area. Besides, party members don't heal automatically other than by sleeping in a bed and you can't camp. Even after you learned healing spells, it takes minutes to heal your whole party since the spell needs time to recharge. This becomes less of an issue later, but is annoying in the beginning. To sum it up, I put ~116h in the extended edition and less than half of this was actual play time. The rest was running around because of bugs or game design issues or waiting in fights or to restore health after a fight.

Game crashed on MacOS Mojave

On the current macOS Mojave (10.14), I get a reproducible kernel panic when saving the game. This happens with quick and hard saves, fresh and existing game and any combination of graphic and other settings I could think of. The game ran fine with the previous macOS.

Save Scumming: The Game

I actually liked the puzzles and more puzzle-style quests in the game, but the story and characters were not interesting enough to maintain my interest, and the combat is just a slog every. single. time. Yes, I was able to figure out most fights eventually, but the time and mental investment is not worth the payoff in my experience (especially when RNG plays such a huge part in pretty much every facet of each encounter). The game has lots of "gotcha" moments via enemies and encounter triggers, so it's not like tactical failings were the primary reason for combat failures much of the time. That's a pretty big "yikes" from me in a game that has the tactical combat as its primary focus. If you're the type of person who likes to play RPGs for the bookkeeping and the number-crunching, and the juggling of stat boosts and status effects while busting out the ruler to measure movement and line of sight in combat heavy campaigns, I think you would actually adore Divinity: Original Sin. I like to play RPGs for the character development and player expression in emergent story situations, and so this game does not do it for me.

DOS:EE Is DEFINITELY an RPG masterpiece!

I beat DOS:EE on the hardest difficulty, and that took me 175 hours. They were great fun! Many other reviewers for this game give it a bad rating primarily because its design philosophy contradicts their wishes for it to play fast & dumb. Their complaints say things like "solving the initial mystery takes too long." Or "the battles are too slow." Or "the game doesn't tell me where I need to go." Those complaints are missing this point: each moment of DOS:EE is designed to be slowly savored. You are supposed to take your sweet time to smell each flower, have long fireside chats with every character, indulge in leisurely country strolls across the vast, beautiful & highly varied landscapes, and carefully inspect every barrel, bookshelf, seashell, cavern, dungeon, town, lair, and temple. Most players who do not like this game were expecting a cheap fast-food style of meal, and instead it gave them a gourmet dinner at the Queen's palace. It does not have any mindless button-mashing or arcadey action like in Diablo or GTA types of games. Instead, DOS:EE is for the connoisseur who wants to luxuriate in every nuance of the fantasy world. The critics are correct that DOS:EE does not hold your hand or solve your problems for you. But 99% of the problems they cite would have resolved themselves automatically if they had only explored the world longer before complaining. You are *meant* to *discover* the mysteries of the world on your own. That's a brilliant design decision, not a flaw! DOS:EE features a wonderful story, (mostly) excellent voice-acting which covers every word of dialogue (there is tons!), fascinating characters, satisfying turn-based combat, and an enormous, lovely fantasy world. This game is not perfect. It's full of environmental traps that are immensely aggravating. But its exceptional qualities far outweigh its flaws. DOS:EE is infinitely better than most other modern RPGs (i.e. it trounces *anything* made by Bethesda).
