It's alright
Played it with a friend and it took us around 120 hours to complete the game in tactician mode. We had fun most of the time, but we also had numerous bugs throughout our play. Mostly during battle where the music would stop and not restart again, sometimes the interface was bugged where we could not see how long buffs or debuffs would last or who was next in a fight. Quicksave and reload fixed them 99% of the time though. The combat is the most fun element in this game and took some time till we could grasp what is effective, especially in the beginning where characters are still weak and things are overwhelming. Eventually we got used to it and knew how to use summons and disabling status effects to our advantage. But keep in mind that you can literally spend hours in inventory & character screens or towns to tweak your character. The inventory is not that great and can get stuffed easily with all the stuff you find during exploration which makes. Exploring the world was cool in the beginning when everything was still new. In the last quarter the game felt a little tedious and dragged imo. I personally didn't enjoy the dialogue much as the characters where just saying a LOT, so it sometimes felt like a bombardment of useless information. The stuff they were saying just didn't reach me in an emotional way. Usually I just wanted them to get to the point so that we could move on as I'm not a fan of bloated dialogue. Exp however, is needed badly - the first half can get quite tough and one level makes a HUGE difference in this game. Overall would recommend for fans of the genre who like exploring a huge world with many encounters and loads of enemies, but don't care much for the story and can live with a few bugs here and there. In my opinion it is not a must play - my buddy says the second Divinity is way better in almost every regard. So you might want to check that one out instead and just skip the first.
