This game is a high quality tactical combat game hidden under 18 tonnes of annoying errands and cryptic tasks, running here and there, talking to people, playing with trinkets, managing inventory.
I've just spent the last 2 hours trying to figure out quest actions and I'm bored stiff. I already have a job, I don't need another one on the weekends.
I played on the easiest difficulty and could not even finish the intro on the boat. Anything you fight just kills you. Also go buy it on steam so you can get a refund because GOG won't refund games when they are shit, only if they are broken.
I've played this on xbox and beat it a couple play throughs. So although I love the game there my first impression on PC are horrible.
Fist is the the insane boot game to a non game screen to sign up for something that has zero expaintion of what it is or why. This is a persistent thing everytime you boot the game.
second is create a profile...why? I mean I get why its for mutiple play throughs and multiplayer but the game doesnt tell you why it just makes you do it.
Third is just going to start a game and what the hell is explorer, classic, story, taction mode.... sure story mode on most games is super easy mode, classic is the normal design mode for any game. so is explorer easy mode and taction hard mode. No explaination just pictures. On top of this is even chosing your own names normally these modes have order of selection but story is above classic so it leaves a lack of understanding of what each choice at even larger scale.
If I was new player coming to this game because it was on sale I'd honestly just close it out and unistall it after all these fails. Luckily I played the first one and this one on xbox before buying for pc so I know the game is good to my taste but add on top these issue the otehr complaints through the forums from new players and you have in effect pushed players away and lowered your customer base simpy because you got lazy and didnt explain things.
As I just installed the game, I'll create a ever growing review of the game, reflecting my experience as I'm playing along.
As far as I've played I feel the following:
SETTINGS
(Things to fix:)
Obiously translations
Option for game sound to play if focus isn't on the game anymore (in borderless fullscreen aka fake fullscreen/if you tab out)
Explanations on the things you can enable or disable in the "Gameplay" tab
Other than that, I love the numbers of settings the game in the first official release version comes with.
