Listed among the "Top 100 PC Games Of All Time" by PC GAMER (2012), Divine Divinity is an epic role-playing game with hack-and-slash action, offering a huge world to explore and thousands of items to investigate, trade and use.

The game chronicles the never-ending battle between valiant heroes and the destructive powers of Chaos harnessed by the Black Ring, a cult of enduring evil. You play the role of the prophesised Chosen One who under the guidance of the wizard Zandalor must unite the seven races of Rivellon so that you may become the Divine One and stop the birth of the Lord of Chaos.

A Splendid Game

Having looked at some videos on YouTUBE I decided to buy the game. I have been very pleased with my purchase. Not only is it very atmospheric but the music and graphics are very well done. I found this game very easy to get into without reading the manual. I usually read the manuals after I get into a game to see if i'm missing any important steps. But I was able to jump right into this game and play. I compare this to Fallout 2 in the fact that I started up the game but got stuck almost straight away. Not the games fault but just the way play. The mapping is very well done with the ability to place markers on the map. I have things such as "Discount Goods", "Bed" and so on marked so I can find these locations easily. One other thing I like is the ability to pause the game while you figure out what to do next I am a Mage in the game and loving every minute of it so far. Have not used any magic yet but have about 6 quests on the go. The quests are a good example of using marker pins on the map so I can remember where I need to return to get my bonus/gifts/task completions. I have slowed my playing down so I actually read the text and it is almost like reading a book in places. To repeat my earlier comment, this game is just fantastic with atmosphere. If you like the Baldur's Gate series, Dungeon Siege 1 and 2 and Planescape Torment then you will love this one. I will be so bold as to say, for me at least, this game is better than Bauldurs Gate. Again this is my own opinion but it really shows you how much I love this game. You will not be disappointed with your purchase.

Really enjoyable

I'm not that much older than this game, but I am very much enjoy the whole experience. It *feels* old, it is a bit clunky at times, but it provides an experience we don't see often nowadays. I particulary enjoy that you can take whatever skills you want at each level up, meaning you are not stuck with your chosen class at the beginning of the game. The voice acting isn't super great, but it is pretty funny not gonna lie. And I don't think the game looks bad, well certainly for a 2002 game. The only thing I will say that I haven't really enjoyed is that it doesn't run super well on Windows 11. I haven't tried to run in in a Windows 7 or 8 VM, but to anyone reading this, keep that in mind. The game DOES run on Windows 11, there is only stutter sometimes however.

Fun!

I approached this game because I loved Original Sin and always wanted to play an RPG of 'that' era, with 'that' visual style. Well, I was not disappointed. Sometimes the age of the game can be felt, some of the decisions that where made for the game progression probably wouldn't be the same today (I did need some help along the way with guides and forums9. The story is not of the most epic scale but I was engaged after I while. I liked the characters, I liked the world and I like how it played. If you're just looking for an old-school RPG/Hack'n'Slay with a reasonable amount of action and speed in Gameplay - play a few hours! I really enjoyed it and will check out the next installments in the series.

A pleasure, requires a little patience.

The game is wonderful and has a lot of charm. I love the dialog and there is a witty and somewhat dark sense of humor all throughout. I very much enjoy speaking with basically everyone I come across. The attention to detail for a game that is about 2 decades old as of my writing is frankly astounding. So much of the world is interactable, and minor details you could not have guessed about are taken into account. It makes for a very exciting experience which keeps that feeling - the sense of wonder upon discovering a totally new world - alive for a long time. Personally, I very much enjoy spending a ton of time just clearing out the fog of war in every location. It takes a ton of time and slows down story progress, but it makes for a fun, short spurt of gameplay at the end of my day-to-day. Thats been very fun and rewarding. If you like Diablo for that sort of mindless hack-n-slash, then this game will work for you too. This game is also just a story lover's game, too, which cannot perhaps be said for Diablo. The only reason that this game cannot take 5 stars from me is that players need to be aware that there are some technical issues that seem to sprout up in the game. There are a few quests that seem to break based on various factors, including just selecting the "wrong" dialog option. Sometimes the camera lock seems to switch off for no reason which can make combat frustrating. Other times, the key-bindings seem to go haywire until I totally restart the game. These issues can be minor frustrations or totally unacceptable for you as the player, depending on your mood. Personally, the unique experience, fun world, and beautiful music and art make up for the problems.
