Great for nostalgia, but a rough game
While this game occupies a significant place from my childhood memories and I was very happy to see it on GOG, I must admit its a lot rougher around the edges than I remember it. I used to play this quite a bit back in the day and wanted to go through it again to see how the memories hold up. I must admit, not as good as I hoped. The game design revolves around completing stages set in the Dysney Hercules movie and getting small cutscenes from the movie once completed. The game is divided into two stages, one where you have a 2d-ish platformer environment and another where you need to run along a path regulating your speed and movement to progress. Check screenshots for reference. The atmosphere is nice and colourful even at the more darker areas. Music might get repetetive if you stay too long on a level, but that will mostly be the case if you are trying to get every possible collectible. Graphics were blurry on my monitor, but I guess thats to be expected with a game like this. The level design is built in a way that you are very likely to get beaten by not knowing how the situation develops. Enemies hit you almost out of nowhere and instantly, so that you can barely react to it all. Maneuvering isnt particularly comfortable either. I also get the impression that dodging some of the obstacles appears almost impossible, but maybe im just shit at this. I also had some graphical glitch, where part of the screen was gray. It didnt affect gameplay, but still. For the nostalgia, it was worth it. I got my hour of gameplay, used a walkthrough so as to not suffer needlesly trying to "figure it out by myself" as I got better things to do. But if you are new to this and have never played this before I would recommend you try something else. You know how they sometimes make games that tie into movies to get more out of a franchise? This is it. It is not bad (especially for its day), but by no means is it great either. Keep that in mind when considering the purchase.

A father-son moment with a real gem
Just finished the game with my 6-year-old son. He loved it (obviously). I was 8 again... Saw the "cutscenes" and the last two levels for the first time after 20 years. The last "run" level was a killer, but Hades is a joke. We beath the old guy with Champ rating on the first try. It was a real father-son moment. Thanks for this! 5 stars, no question. We will beat this again together... and again... and again...

THE. FIRST. GAME. OF. MY. LIFE!!!!!!
Thank you GOG for bringing back tha game what made me a nerd when I was 10. It was on my first computer (Win98), and I played it through million times. However, this version still has some graphic bugs, please, if you can, fix it. Thank you again, keep up the good work! (I will wait for the Treasure Planet, and Atlantis game too ;-) )

Thank you for the nostalgia!
Thank you GoG for bringing us this game back! This was one of the first games in my life when I was a child and I loved it. As a child I was not good enough to play through this game but now of course this is no problem anymore :) Thank you a lot, you are doing a great job, with releasing this game you are really doing us a nostalgic favor!
