From the award-winning developers at Arkane® Studios comes Dishonored®: Death of the Outsider, the next standalone adventure in the critically-acclaimed Dishonored® series. Be a badass supernatural assassin and take on the role of notorious Billie Lurk as she reunites with her mentor Daud in order to pull off the greatest assassination ever conceived. STORY:
Take on the role of Billie Lurk (aka Megan Foster), once one of Dunwall's most notorious killers-for-hire. Reunited with your old mentor, the legendary assassin Daud, you undertake the greatest assassination ever conceived: killing the Outsider, a god-like figure whom Billie and Daud see as instrumental to some of the Empire's most dishonorable moments. As you venture deep into the grimiest corners of Karnaca to uncover the mystery of the Outsider and his origins, you will face deadly opposition, ancient powers, and difficult decisions that will forever change the world around you.

The Greatest Assassination
Killing the Outsider won’t be easy. You’ll have to journey deep into the seedy underbelly of Karnaca, where you’ll unravel some the city’s lost secrets. Along the way you’ll infiltrate underground fight clubs and black magic cults, and retrieve ancient artifacts in a thrilling bank heist mission that sets the table for your greatest mission ever.

Armed with your weapons, gadgets and abilities, take down deadly foes such as the immortal Envisioned, the relentless Sisters of the Oracular Order and the new Clockwork Soldiers. Up the ante by accepting Contracts to find and eliminate optional targets throughout your mission.
Replay Your Way
Unleash further potential for creative chaos by replaying with some of the signature powers from Dishonored 2 in the Original Game Plus (OG+) mode.
Absolutely brilliant standalone, honestly feels a little cut down from dishonoured an dishonoured 2 in that the customisation/builds for 'powers' is different but with that aside it is an exceptionally well written and doesn't detract from any of the existing lore.
I am curious if there could have been a tie in to the way you played dishonored 2 though because it feels like its set a bit after that and one of the choices from Dishonored 2 would significantly change Billie Lurk, it may have been harder to get through a mercy/ghost run but still.. food for thought!
Definitely recommend if you enjoyed the Dishonoured titles.
This was a separate expansion, a standalone one at that for Dishonored 2, meaning it was never meant to be as long, nor as elaborate, nor as complex as that game. It being a Dishonored game however, meant that the game was going to be highly replayable and filled with some incredible levels, enemies, world building, setting, depth, and narrative alike.
The game features five levels, all with very unique settings and secrets. There's one that takes you into the base of the Overseers, another that starts you into downtown Karnaca, and one that revolves around robbing a vault, among others. Each level is packed with contracts, secrets, and side missions that add significantly more to the world.
I think that, it being a significantly shorter game, made for a more focused game, one that benefited a franchise like these for the characteristics these games tend to have: high replayability, lots of side quests, gameplay and encounter experimentation. You scratch the surface and there's a lot more to the experience inside.
I've put around 42 hours on it alone on Steam, mainly because of how many paths, incredible moments, and set pieces there are. It's one of those titles that I think can be replayed -like the previous Dishonored games- numerous times, but, like the more recent Hitman games, this is also a title that demands to be replayed & 100% to truly see its potential, a single, straightforward playthrough won't be enough for you to appreciate what the game is truly trying to do; and sadly that's the way most people play through games nowadays.
I believe that by now everyone who looked even the slightest into Arcane Studio's games has noticed that the main issue most players have with their games is the overarching storyline, so I don't want to go to much into detail on that part, apart from stating that yes, it is only functional again, yes, it will take some of the mysticism surrounding the Outsider by explaining his origins and yes, you get to see Daud again, which for itself would make the game worth playing.
However, as always Arcane provides the player with new powers and a few new gadgets compared to the previous entries in the series: The blink (teleport) ability in this game lets the player set a marker on the map that allows him to return to that exact point as long as he is in range, even through walls. The second ability, Foresight, lets the player get a sort of out-of-body experience in which he can, as long as he does't stray too far from his body, explore his surroundings in a sort of time freeze. The third ability allows the player to copy the appearance of other NPC and thus gain access to otherwise restricted areas. And here it is where Arcane took a popular fan request to heart: Instead of having the player use his powers, especially the teleport and wait for the magic resource to replenish in order not to use a potion, the player will always regain all of his mana over time and can chain multiple teleports without worrying about potions, which makes the gameplay more fluent overall. Another part that players missed in Dishonored 2 were the side missions, small optional tasks the player can complete for his own benefit, which return in the form of contracts. Since Billie Lurk is a mercenary, she can receive those little tasks by going to the local black market. The tasks can range from little things like destroying a few bottles of a specific drink to slaughtering a whole religious order and will reward the player with money or, more often bonecharms.
