Disco Elysium - The Final Cut

I play a lot of games, but I don't review a lot. This one deserves it. It's one of my favorite games of the last 10 years, maybe of all time. The writing is excellent, I lost track of the number of times I laughed out loud. The gameplay is great, there are lots of different styles you can play, and I was still finding lots of content I had never seen before on my third playthrough (Contact Mike cracked me up). The art and music fit very nicely. The world they've created here is bleak and depressing and foreign, but ultimately the themes should be recognizable to any human. I'd love to revisit in a sequel.

I own it on steam, highly recommend it. At first I wasn't sure, had about 5 restarts before really getting into it (I died...a lot).Art is great, humor is top notch, the noir is thick but punctuated with comedy. I really like the writing, I really like the setting, I really like the characters, the voice acting...other than the controls sometimes feeling a tiny bit off there isn't anything about it that I didn't like. This game is all about the story, it has ups and down, lots of character development, the character leveling system is unique and how you level your character will determine dialogue and interaction options. And I'd say it's one of the very few games that took the time to find GREAT voice actors and to have them deliver the lines in a really spot on kind of way. I usually cannot stand video game voice acting but this game hit the nail on the head.

This rpg has the best plot, and I'd love to see a movie based on this story, however making it happen would be impossible. It has politics in it, but it's not overly preachy, it's a different type of beast. The gameplay is fun, there's a lot of comedy mixed with seriousness, and there's also you the protagonist. The art is breathtaking, and I dare you to say otherwise. Absolutely amazing piece of gaming ART. Easily a 10 out of 5 in my book. There's not enough points to rate this gem.

An amazing and very cleverly written RPG, that manages to be engaging, funny, heartwrenching and intense without any combat. Heartily Recommended Sadly, however, the writers and creators responsible for making this game so engaging have been laid off, leaving only the people who fired them to benefit from any future purchases...

One of the most intriguing and original games I've played in the last 20 years. A thrilling noir that is not a thriller, an RPG where the fundamental characters are the parts of the psyche of the drunken lovely dumb ass protagonist (every new play you can choose different skills and see new different crazy dialogues...). A beautiful distopic background, similar to our world, but totally different, with deep references and philosophical themes. A game that all who loves witty and crazy dialogues definitely have to play. Not for everyone: it's not a "common" RPG, it has no combats nor action. So, why 4 stars? I'm italian and I've a B2-C1 level in english language. And it's not enough to understand every shade of the dialogues. It's a game based only on words and dialogues, so losing a part of them is losing a lot. And anyway, trying to understand everything can soon become tiring. Hoping there will be new localizations sooner or later in this gog version. And no, I'm not speaking of the automatic translations that you can find with mods. It needs professional translators to fully communicate every hidden shade and every subtile meaning that all languages have.
