Great port
Love this game to death, it's good to see a superior version finally available, I've always played the PS1 version so this one feels great.

The only thing louder than the dinosaurs' roars were the voices of gamers worldwide demanding the return of a survival horror classic.
Thanks to the tremendous efforts of Capcom and GOG, Regina’s iconic line, 'You’re extinct!' no longer applies to the game itself. The timeless thriller that defined a generation of gamers is made to last forever, enhanced for today’s systems, featuring all the original content you loved with numerous improvements.
The wait is over. Dino Crisis has been resurrected. And…
It will totally consume you. All of you.
Three years ago. A scientist died in an accident during an experiment. His research was on “Third Energy,” a completely clean energy source. The accident occurred just as government funding had been cut off because the project was deemed unfeasible. To the public, it was nothing more than an insignificant piece of information. Until now.
An agent dispatched to a small country in the South Seas to investigate a top-secret military project brought back surprising information. At a military research facility in the Republic of Borginia, a scientist who was supposed to have died three years ago in our country has resumed his research activities in the field of Third Energy. Regina, a member of the government's spy team, was tasked with retrieving the doctor.
She heads to the isolated island of Ibis, where the military facility is located. The dark elite are trained for every conceivable challenge. For them, it is just another “job” as usual…

Genius level design
This game has the best level design I have seen. Watch for the details, especially while exploring 1F. Every area has a closed door through which you can later progress. Instead of progressing through 1F in a way that feels controlled, in the first area inside you are forced to go up, exploring spot-wise, from the inside out so to speak, working to make the connections. Metroidvania or Souls & -likes are nothing compared to this beauty. There are a lot of aspects beyond this example to unearth. The dinosaurs are your stress, but the facility is your problem. Also remember that Dino Crisis is a 3D game, but still essentially "pixel art". It is a product of its time. It looks best with the 256×224 PlayStation resolution, with the "hardware anti-aliasing" that contemporary CRTs were effectively providing. That means, if you want to experience its true optical beauty (which it had, back then) you need a proper shader and a low resolution. It will look considerably worse with a 480p resolution or above, if optics are important to you.

It's Dino Crisis!
Do I really need to review one of the best survival horror game? Well, maybe for new generations. This game has EVERYTHING we need for a survival horror: scare jumps, scarce resources, hard (you can get used to) solving puzzles, more than one ending, nice narrative, amazing characters, choices that afect directly the outcome and great gamplay. I must thank GoG for that with all my heart. I just HOPE CAPCOM can make a DECENT remake/remaster WITHOUT REMOVING THE PUZZLES AND THE CHOICES PATH. I'm rom the 80's and this game was part of my tenagehood. It's a must have/buy.
