Description
Become the immortal warrior-prince Atilla, awakened after millenia in deep space by an impudent invasion of your tomb-ship. Pick up your blood-sword and investigate - are these intruders the old enemies from your past, or as yet unknown foes to conquer? No matter, they have rooted themselves into the ship and defiled all that is sacred to you with their foul presence. It is time to drive them out into the void and save your people.

Awaken prince, and carve a red ruin!

Diluvian Ultra: Chapter One includes 10 levels + a hub, 6 different weapons with 30 different upgrades and 13 enemy types.

Further chapters continuing Atilla’s story as well as expanding his arsenal and the roster of enemies to obliterate will be released as paid DLCs at a future date.

Strategic combat

Diluvian Ultra’s combat is built around a dual-damage system where you have to combine weapons to be effective. Armour absorbs damage, but some weapons are designed to quickly strip it off your targets - unable to kill them, but exposing them for a single lethal blow. You have to be careful though, as enemies will mix their attacks in the same way. Collect and consume blood to upgrade your weapons and pick up various power-ups at the opportune moment, to become vengeance incarnate - if only for a while!

Keep it moving

Surviving in Diluvian Ultra is all about mobility. Dodge enemy fire while you chain together ranged attacks with close combat blows and devastating ground slams. Double-jump, dash, find cover and even deflect projectiles with your sword, but never stay in one place for too long!

Organic philosophy

Your spaceship home is a living combination of flesh and stone, and so it is with your arsenal of weapons; use both traditional Tech weapons as well as grotesque, living Organic armaments, and don’t forget to take good care of your closest companion, your sentient Squire Gun, Bella.

Epic story

Diluvian Ultra may be an over the top retro FPS filled with frenetic action, but all that carnage is set on a background of an epic, tragic story tackling the themes of fanaticism, trauma, betrayal and hope for redemption, playing out in neo-gothic architectural set pieces and immense, cathedral-like spaceships.

Promise of greatness, needs polish

This feels like an early access version, especially with future episodes coming, so I will write this review like a commendation and recommendations list. + I really, really dig the art and setting. + mostly solid combat that revolves around Halo'ish shield-elimination-then-damage economy that lets you feel nicely powerful without becoming mindless, vibes like a fun Doom total conversion but with better balance they usually have + levels manage to feel grandiose now and then - some QoL oddities need to be applied, pressing m1 down during charged sword swing doesn't chain a second charge but does a basic attack on mouse release. If this is intentional, add some kind of HUD feedback. Prevent doing attacks during dialogue, etc. - buggy, and not of the insectoid kind. Dialogue texts going too fast automatically unprompted, two tutorial texts overlapping each other, an elevator wouldn't activate in the final level, blocking progress, tried climbing down a death pit, game tried spawning me back up, instead leaving me on an edge of the bottom zone, fell into an endless void below the map - could use couple extra enemy types - noticed myself wishing that the levels were more sprawling with more enemies in them, or include some more creative gimmicks. They are a bit too... contemporary for a proper boomer shooter - in my taste: writing can be a bit too whimsical for its own good now and then. The protagonist being actually really nice guy despite his monstrous nature is genuinely great, but it would work better if it got juxtaposed more often with the brutal and alien world - for the love of the prophet, add enemy voice line variation if you can, add some more generic lines that come more often, and make sure they don't spew unfitting lines ("activating shields!" while literally exploding into guts and pieces, "wonder if this stuff is edible..." during combat, and so...) Bottom line: really cool shooter, keep fixing and building it. It deserves it, totally worth 10 euros.

Can't wait for chapter 2!

Amazing look and feel. The world building is some of the most unique I've seem in a while with my favorite bit still being the fact your character just woke up gives it enough reason to explain a bit of what' happening but over all you're left to piece bits together yourself. I love getting dropped into weird worlds and have no one explain it to me because for them it's all normal. The choice to add game play mechanics like some guns specifically damaging armor while others damage health is grate at making you switch up your gun tho they could play into it a bit more for the player. There are defiantly a few guns that are just better to use then most the other options. The fact the enemies guns have the same mechanic is grate however. The addition of a sword and a melee hot key is grate and more boomer shooters should give you melee weapons. All this games mild issues with bugs don't mean anything to me after I learned it's made by 3 people. I'll always cut small devs way more slack and I've 100% played games with 8x the team size that were less fun and buggier. I had one boss glitch out and made me re-load to fix and that was it. The only real problem I have is that right now it's short but they have 2 whole other chapters planned. For 9.99 this game is a steal and if you like boomer shooters even a little pick this game up and check it out.
