Diablo + Hellfire

It's a great game, I spent many 100's of hours playing this game. Mainly online after the first couple playthroughs. The online community was like the wild west, with hacks and cheats. I hope the hellfire addon is removable. Hellfire was fun except for the mana shield bug. Basically the higher level you are in the spell the less it protects you. To my knowledge the bug was never fixed, should have been an easy fix. Maybe mods fixed it, been a wile since I played moded diablo. Great game though, might have to install it after I finish a run through the gold box games.

Never really liked the hellfire DLC, it was outsourced and not done by the original team, but Diablo is still a trip down memory lane, long before Seasons and cosmetic microtransactions and filling your bags with more crap than your stash can handle, there was the oppressive dark dungeon that felt like a horror dungeons and dragons campaign. A lot has been lost in the Diablo games, but in the original diablo you are still just Fresh Meat.

D1 good - D4 bad

Truly I beat Diablo years ago but I came to revisit to finish off the Hellfire expansion. The quaint simplicity of Diablos age old systems is a double edged sword. On one hand there is a certain charm to having only 4 statistics and very little character building outside of assigning 5 stat points every level. On the other hand chance to hit can be an obscured and frustrating mechanic. Diablo's aesthetic qualities are perhaps its greatest strength from the muted color pallette to the creature designs, don't get me started about the bleak and unsettling soundscape as you wander the catacombs looking for your next magic hat. Good fun worth a playthrough but shows its age.
