Demo version of Dex is available here

Includes the Extra Outfits DLC.

Explore, fight, talk and hack your way through a rich cyberpunk world in this 2D action-RPG!

Wanted dead by a mysterious and far-reaching organization, you will traverse the futuristic city of Harbor Prime and make unexpected allies on your quest to bring down the system! In this cyberpunk adventure inspired by Blade Runner and Neuromancer, you are free to choose your playstyle: will you be a silent assassin, a hacker, a diplomat or a straightforward gunfighter?

Designed as a throwback to earlier 2D platforming and action games combined with modern RPG elements, Dex offers real-time combat, a mature storyline and interactive dialogues.

Customize your character’s skills, equipment and even augmentations – implants which grant you superhuman abilities and open up new paths within the game’s open world.

A revolutionary hacking mechanic also lets you dive into Cyberspace: overcome viruses and intrusion countermeasures to deactivate turrets, overload devices, steal corporate data and cripple your enemies!
  • Rare blend of realism and creative vision: Realistic action, mature storyline, and complex character interactions combined with hand-drawn characters, animations, and environments, arcade-style melee combat, and an original conception of cyberspace.
  • Multiple paths: Operate in physical reality or in Cyberspace. Overcome obstacles using your skills, weapons, augmentations…
  • Meaningful character building: Will you be a silent assassin, a hacker, or a straightforward gunfighter? Improve your character and gear to unlock gameplay-changing upgrades that reinforce and customize your gameplay style.
  • Unique hacking mechanic: Transfer your consciousness to your avatar, overcome intrusion countermeasures, take action, and then return back to your body in a fraction of a real-time second to see the results – deactivated turrets, overloaded devices, enemies with crippled implants…
  • Neo-cyberpunk: Story deeply inspired by the cyberpunk novels of William Gibson and other classical cyberpunk authors, flavored with a contemporary concept of augmented reality.
  • Rich game world and diverse level design: Visit diverse locations in Harbor Prime, a futuristic city complete with luxurious skyscrapers, run-down shantytowns, and seedy red-light districts. Take part in street brawls, steal corporate data, overcome environmental hazards, and, of course, stay alive – no easy task.
  • Three special outfits: The Samio Cyberwear allows you to regenerate your Focus when hacking, the Euroforce BattleRig offers physical protection against bullets, and the Armagear InvisiSuit can make you invisible! You’ll have to be on the lookout for clues about their location, and face serious opposition before earning them!

Atmospheric cyberpunk

I recommend the game as I enjoyed it very much. Here are my thoughts: + very good exploration + great atmosphere + great style + stealth recommended + bonus suits are fun + cyberpunk + RPG elements are done well + took me 17 hours to complete and another 2-3 to hunt achievements (this is the only game I have 100% achievements on gog.com) Neutral observations: o combat heavy, I lowered dificulty just to make it smoother experience (implants/suits can fix that) o bonus suits are seriously overpowered o I did not like the hacking at first, but then I learned how to do it and it was ok/entertaining. However there are few things I did not like: - on of the first tasks is to find a doctor - but he is hidden! I've spent 5 hours doing other quests, unable to find him before I finally gave up and looked his location online - that is a serious design flaw!!! - made by small team, so animations are mostly clunky, could use more animation frames - music is very repetitive, sounds like 1 minute loops in most locations Overall great game in my opinion :)

Great cyberpunk themed mix of genres

Dex is an odd game that combines a variety of good things we have already seen to create a something compelling and unique. Jump´n un, Metroidvania, RPG, Brawler - it´s all there and is surprisingly well done and coherent. The story is engaging and the motivation level is high since th game itself is very rewarding. It took me a while to get used to the controls but once I figured them out the game was non stop fun to me. It is also well presented and runs like a charm.

Cyberpunk RPG - A good mix

Dex - a action side-scrolling RPG from 2015 - fits perfectly in your cyberpunklibrary of games. And here is the why: The game itself targets a young adult/adult audience and takes no special skills to play - a fantastic casual game if you like story, building up your character and enjoying the scenery. The Story: is to some extend mediocre. Its your typical story: Girl (Dex) has vivid dreams from nowhere and suddenly gets chased by Armagear (a private army if you like). From that the story starts to unfold itself and soaks you right into cyberspace, augmentations and a dystopian world. Even though the story is mediocre it has special moments and you can even decide how the story goes. There are sidequests and fates for the npc you can decide (for the collectors: there are even achievements!) Graphics & Audio: The graphics are fantastic. They are pixely to a extend but in a good way. The colors, lighting etc - all of that fits perfectly to the setting and lets you fully immerse in it. The Audio enhances this. So much. The OST is just great. I would go so far to say its one of the best (in the Cyberpunksetting). I just cant add more. Its as simple as that. 10/10 for this category. But whats about the difficulty and the length of the game? At tthis point I have to take away some of the stars. Why? Well.. around 8 hours of gameplay is just too short for a rpg - there was room for way more than it is. The map could have been larger, sidequests could have been more etc. Even the achievements wont save it. In those 8 hours I already did all the achievements. Even though I totally enjoyed the time I spent in Dex, its just too little. In the end I can only recommend this game. Yea its short but its a hell of a ride. The Sidequests? A big plus. The RPG elements? Check. Graphics and sound? Check. All in all: buy it. Its worth it. The decs did a phenomenal job on this game and deserve this credit. 4/5 stars - you could make it a little better but hey, nothings perfect!

Dex: Enhanced Edition Review

Link to review: https://backloggd.com/u/RedBackLoggd/review/355234/ Tl;dr - Overall, Dex is a worthy entry in the cyberpunk field. Yes, I had a number of issues with it, technically, narratively, and gameplay-wise, but you’ll still get strong satisfaction from the typical corporate conspiracy yarn the writers spin. More importantly, wandering through Harbor Prime is such a rich delight, an excursion that rewards exploration with secret areas, stationary that gives historical/anecdotal details, and more. Dex also doesn’t outstay its welcome, providing 11-12 hours of content total which, at a $15.00 price range, is a steal.

I like this more than Cyberpunk2077

Tired of extremely large open world games that are full of bloat? Tired of repetitive side missions that are forgettable and feel like a grind? Tired of mindlessly following markers to your next quest or side quest? No worries because, Dex isn't any of these things. Dex is a 2d/2.5d semi open world cyberpunk platformer with a little bit of metroidvania elements. - Art is great and distinctive. - Music was great for the most part. - Story is amazing with multiple endings for main story and for some side quests. - Side quests are meaningful and characters are memorable. No repetitive side quests, all side quests are unique. - The voice acting in this game carries lots of emotions. It really brings the characters to life and feel down to earth if that makes any sense. Dialogues are pretty good as well. - Gameplay is a bit janky and not much build variety but its serviceable. There are different ways to approach gameplay. You could rely more on stealth and hacking like I did like a techno assassin playstyle was very enjoyable for me personally. You could focus more on guns or you could focus on melee martial arts and there are little set of move commands for that. There are 3 outfit suits you unlock aside from your default outfit. Each help with a certain build. There are also implants you can get. Some allow you to reach places you couldn't reach before like high jump. This is like what many metroidvania games tend to do. - The game is semi open world but don't let that fool you. There are lots of secrets and places to explore in the game & being a 2d platformer helps add a great sense of scale to some places. The game has you mostly exploring a big city with many distinct districts. Exploration feels condensed in a good way without much bloat. - This is one of the few games I finished to the end. I'd compare it gameplay wise to Anno Mutationem & DeusEx. I did enjoy Dex a lot more than Anno Mutationem however. All in all , IMO , this is a very solid game. 10/10
