Nice gameplay, non existant optimization

I enjoy the gameplay elements very much, like for example sneaking past enemies, hacking every computer and reading even the most boring emails. But unfortunately I have to complain about the horrible optimization of the game and it's problems with CPUs that have 16 threads. Loading times were bad since I started playing this game among other problems during gameplay. After reading a bit in different forums I found a solution, all you have to do is to open the task-manager and reduce the amount of threads the game uses from 16 to only 8 and bam, your game loads much quicker. It's the first game I ever had to do this for. I didn't even know you could reduce the amount of threads a process uses in the task manager before. Therefore I rate this game with only 1 star, also maybe due to the rather boring story. The gameplay is nice but don't expect an astonishing story from it.

Alright

This is a solid FPS but could be a lot better. As it is, it's buggy, has limited save slots, the graphics are at times desaturated and harsh, and the menus are overly complex. The hacking mini-games are annoying and were done better in various James Bond 007 releases. The story is preachy with cut scenes being longer and more serious than any game needs. But the concept is original and the controls are as good as they get. If DEMD were optimized and emphasized fun over drama, it'd be a perfect FPS. Until recently, the Far Cry series got it exactly right and this title should have done the same.

Wonderful, with a few flaws.

The first direct sequel in the Deus Ex series, Mankind Divided continues the storyline from the previous game, Human Revolution, following the same protagonist, Adam Jensen, as he finds himself trying to piece together a conspiracy in a world that despises augmented people like him due to the incident in the latest game's climax. HR had multiple endings, and MD does a pretty good job of finding a balance between all of them, so the story can more or less continue seamlessly. Things have gone wrong for pretty much everyone, and the world is now closer and closer to the dystopia seen in the original Deus Ex. Sadly, while the premise is interesting, the story doesn't really fare very well. This is due to two factors: one, the story is blatantly unfinished. At some point, the game ends in what feels like the second act. It's too obvious that they cut the story to make more room for sequels. The game is long enough, that's not an issue, but the story lacks closure, which is a problem. The other issue with the story is the heavy-handed way it's handled. It tries to make a parallel with current events and discrimination in the real world, but fails spectacularly at justifying it because, unlike what happens with racism and other kinds of unfair discrimination in the real world, in this setting people are entirely justified in fearing the augmented. And even taking that into account the game sometimes goes the other extreme and makes your antagonists cartoonishly evil. It's pretty jarring, actually. That being said, the gameplay is just top notch. Probably the best in the entire series. It's so good that you can just entirely ignore how silly the story gets and immerse yourself into the world anyway. There's also some impressive level design here, and some incredibly fun new abilities. Due to that I have absolutely no problem recommending the game. Just lower your expectations when it comes to the story and you'll have dozens of hours of fun.

It's "more of" Deus Ex: Human Revolution

And that's about it. There were a few gameplay enhancements that are welcome but overall it's not really much and the lore was exploited poorly. Arguably that's something happening since Invisible War but it's not much better than Human Revolution. If you get it on the cheap it's OK. In the launcher set "Excluive fullscreen" to on otherwise the game will try to fry your videocard.
