If you intend to check this out because you liked the original Deus Ex from 2000, you probably won't have much fun with this. If you want more of the predecessor Human Revolution you'll probably be happy with this. I'm firmly in the former camp and for the 25h I played of this game I found it mostly uninteresting and unimaginative in both narrative and gameplay. It's not *bad* per se, but its entertainment value mostly derives from "haha shooting is fun", not from it challenging you in any way or letting you be creative in your approach to problems.
If you are familiar with DE Human revolution you already know what there is to know about mankind divided, well, except the endinfg of this one is more open (aka lots of cliffhangers) for a sequel that probably will never come, at least I hope so, aaand here's where I start ranting so you are welcome to stop reading and go play the game, it's pretty good despite it's flaws, be careful tho, tyhis game is a black hole of resources and it won't be happy with some, it wants all of them, so either it runs smoothly or it crashes like Icarus (we should call it the new Crysis)
Rant time: before you start chatising me let me explain myself, I love the original Deus Ex, and as a fan I find the aesthetic choices of this prequels are horrible, how comes these people use all kind of wacky futuristic clotehs while in the future (the original game) people dress up with more "normal" clothes? I blame Squeenix for that
Also, why there are so many augs around?, with that many people willing to get cybernetic implants you'd think society is past beyond the controversy of the practice, and...
No, no, I better stop, I like the game, I just wish it wouldn't have the Deus Ex name associated to it, you already tried that shit Eidos, it was called invisible war and it was awful (from a storytelling stand point)
So, it's a great game, BUT...
So, i am a fan, i bought the Human Revolution on PS3 back when it came out and was blown away, wanted to give the developers some more money and bought it also on Steam and replayed it.
Then bought Mankind Devided on Steam and now bought it here on GOG again, to replay before Cyberpunk 2077 comes out.
And it sucks!
It's riddled with bugs, the game crashes after ca. 13th mission so often, i can't even walk for 10 seconds before it freezes up, open the menu freeze up, try DX12, freeze, DX11, freeze, ex. fullscreen, freeze, all settings on lowest in 1600x900, freeze.
I've been loking through forums to find a solution nothing works.
I literally can not finish the game right now!
I normally don't write reviews, i think this is my first here on GOG, but people must know before buying!
I don't know how i finished it back when it first came out on Steam, but this is literally unplayable!

The mouse is so sensitive that you have to have it on around 10% to make it playable, but when combat starts for some reason the program lowers the sensitivity even more so the character judders around on the screen. The very first action part goes as follows:
Smoothly stand up from cover and shoot bad guy 1 with trank rifle. Jump over and move to bad guy & loot. Move into other room and hide from bad guy 2, crouch and move out to shoot with trank rifle, shoot, suddenly when move mouse nothing happens, then mouse view jerks to face wall, bad guy 2 fires at you, move mouse gently other way, brief glimpse of enemy as mouse jerks this was and that. Bad Guy 2 continues to fire while view jerks up, down and sideways. Move into cover with 2% of health left. Go into options and Adjust mouse sensitivity to 40%, move out of cover, aim for BG2 and shoot with pistol, BG2 dies. Mouse suddenly starts to swerve violently from side to side 180 degrees back and forwards as you move and try and look. Go into Options, reduce to 10%, can suddenly move again...... BG3 appears...repeat sequence until half way through. Stop. Uninstall game, write this review.
This is just disappointing. I bought the game, installed on fresh Win10, it refused to start launcher even from GoG ( Play button started nothing, windows even viewer nothing ). Then when finally luncher appeared, starting in DX12 did nothing. Switched to DX11, game started. I landed on menu and cursor just on top of the game does not respond to anything I press. I assume this release is just broken. I will test on another PC but until now, it simply doesn't work.
