This game is amazing and I played it again after many years. I wish they would make some more new games in the Deus Ex universe because I love the stealth and challenges. Trying not to be seen, hiding bodies, stealing items from under their noses. Augments etc.
Been a fan of this series for as long while now and this game does not dissapoint at all, played this a few years back on xbox but the pc graphically does it loads more justice. worth the buy and deffinately worth the play.
Don't believe that nonsense about being "half a game". The game isn't short, there's a lot of content. That said the ending is very abrupt and not very satisfying. It's less that it's half a game, and more that it has a poorly executed cliff-hanger.
I think that the game also got flak for tackling racism. Personally I loved that aspect of the game, and it totally makes sense given the backstory.
Unfortunately I heard part 3 got shelved by Square, but if and when it comes out I'll eagerly buy it up. Also wanted to mention I played this on XB1, not PC. So I don't know if the PC version has any problems.
In terms of gameplay, it's well done, very entertaining and decently long (it took me ~70h to finish the base game). Gameplay hasn't changed much from DXHR, perhaps a few more augmentations and trinkets.
Plot-wise, it's pretty bland and both the story and the side quests are quite forgettable. There are a few glitches, such as NPCs walking mid-air, but nothing too frequent nor game-breaking. There are, however, some serious plot holes: for instance, I managed to kill the same named guy not once but twice (in Prague I and Prague III), and this was never acknowledged in the game. All dialogues (including the ending "slideshow") were as if he was alive and well!
All in all, a 7/10. A special demerit note goes to the devs for the unskippable credits at the end of the game.
