I'd see myself enjoying this game a lot if it weren't for the numerous technical issues. It wasn't so bad at first but now I'm annoyed. During the 15 hours I played this game I've met with constant crashes to desktop, freezing and sometimes the controls for interacting with the environment would just not work until I restarted the game. I'd give this game a lower score if I wouldn't have gotten it on sale.
The game itself is awesome in every aspect. I enjoyed Human Revolution and this sequel is even better. Only one thing ruins everything: this game crashes after a few minutes you run it. If it is your lucky day maybe you'll play for one houro or so. This crashes depend on your system and are very common. The issue has not been solved. Good luck
I was somewhat sceptical when buying this tilte, being a long long fan of the original DX and a critic of the DX:Human Revolution I've heard a lot of negative opinions on Mankind Divided HOWEVER now, after throughly playing it I can only recommend it to everyone.
It has improved upon Human Revolution on every turn.
This is one of the best executed 0451 games, with dense and rich world, packed with stories for player to uncover. Every inch of space have someting to tell, with finesse in visial worldbuilding. Confiment of Prague makes you understand and feel this city. Side characters are well designed, often with many layers to them, that you can uncover through careful exploration.
Here is my critisism, ADAM JENSEN IS A COMPLETE BELLEND. There is a drastic disproportion between player knowledge, gained from exploration, and Adams, who knows nothing, cooperating with people that you - the player - just had have discovered to be shady. I've read somewhere that initially they were to introduce a new protagonist instead of Adam Jensen - what would explain this flaw.
Refined combat system is a great improvement and undoubtely the best in the series. Gunplay is smooth, combat auguments are fun to use. Weapon modification was also improved, with "scrap" mechanic and adjusting modification with one button press.
Adressing the critisim of short story and a cliffhanger - It's true it is shorter then previous instalments, but it makes for a more dynamic and focused story. However I do not believe the ending to be a cliffhanger, all of the main plot points get resolved, with multiple outcomes. Speaking of the ending cinematic, it has a Fallout NV vibe to it - with direct information on the outcomes of our actions, and not the "monologue over footage" style.
Overall, I would wholeheartly recomend this game, for the joy of discovering secrets and excelent feel and athmosphere.
I loved Human Revolution, and that game was rock solid. Mankind Divided seems to have a decent story, I liked the cinematics, but the mouse control in this game is all screwed up. The sensitivity is way way too high when you're exploring and you have to crank it down close to 0 to control Alex. But wait until you get in a firefight, and then it decreases the sensitivity so you turn like a slug and adds mouse acceleration so your movements become erratic and jerky.
Why would they do this? I have no idea. But it makes the game unplayable.
How they could nail every other aspect of the game but absolutely ruin a core mechanic to all FPS is beyond me. The one thing you need to get right is mouse movement, and they ruined it. Why?
