Description
Twenty years after the events depicted in the multi-award-winning Deus Ex, the world is just beginning to recover from The Collapse. As an elite agent-in-training, you must match wits against numerous militant factions bent on violently reshaping the world to suit their own agendas. Armed with a multitude of high-tech gadgets and cyberpunk bio-mods, you are granted nearly superhuman powers. Travel the globe to uncover fiendish plots and convoluted conspiracies of world domination. Unmask the conspirators, and discover the shocking truth behind your own origins.

Deus Ex: Invisible War features the open-ended gameplay of its predecessor: use multi-tools and trickery to get past your opponents, or just turn their technology against them as you hack their turrets and computer systems. Along with bio-mods and choices that let you mould your character as you desire, take advantage of the numerous ways to customize your weaponry whether it’s to increase their rate of fire or clip capacity. Last but not least, take advantage of the various factions, such as the Omar who have the only black-market bio-mods, to further your aims.

Who should you trust? Who should you fight? Every decision you make affects the world around you. A good choice for RPG and action fans alike!

  • RPG-ish design allowing for multiple solutions to every quest, whether through stealth and treachery or all guns blazing!
  • A selection of unique biomods such as the Neural Interface that allows you to hack computers or Cloak to hide from enemies, cyberpunk style.
  • Globe-hop to real world locations such as Seattle, London, and Cairo.

Ignore the nay-sayers

Deus ex Invisible war is a very solid and enjoyable game, it was always going to struggle being the sequel to one of the greatest games of all time. Granted it is a little "dumbed down" and yes at best it will take you 10-15 hours to complete but its beauty lies in its replayability, I have played this game through countless times since its release and each time I have chosen a different path or sided with a different faction only to stab them in the back when the time came :D The game and the objectives really do depend on who you decide to align yourself with and what key decisions you make throughout the game. The choices aren't limited to dialouge, it is possible to go through the entire game and not have to kill a single person (attributed in part to the awesome stealth gameplay). Theres also plenty of side missions that can be completed numerous ways and can have impacting effects later on in the game. This game is a LOT of fun, you won't regret paying the $10 it costs, if you haven't tried yet due nto bad press/negative reviews you're missing out.

Had this game on my Original Xbox

I had this game since I was 8 on my original Xbox. I remember when me and my Step-dad picked it out of the bargain bin for $2 at Hollywood Video's gamestore at the time and when we played it, I was nothing but confused and had a hardtime playing it due to its complexity. Therefore, I never touched it again. However, the year is now 2025 and the game was free on Prime Gaming so I decided to give it another go. Holy hell, this game was definitely not made for children. Back then, it was Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Halo. But I see why this game got the high rating it did before. The Stealth mechanics, being able to do as you please, and you can even do what skyrim wont let you do without mods (if you know what I mean). I definitely didn't miss out but I sure am glad I decided to come back and had some closure on how this game is. Overall, Its a good game with a good story with politics that holds up to today. If you're iffy on playing this, It is free on Prime Gaming as I'm writing this and it's definitely better than it looks.

unfair and unbalanced gameplay

Oh, man... what a load of boredom and unfairness is that? Where shall I begin? Well... Level loads are frequent and lengthy. Very lengthy... Well, let's call it a good example for a exercise in patience. Levels are reduced to quite small and dull streets and courts. When you get into buildings you'll find some tiny and very few corridors and rooms. Nothing interesting or worthy to explore. Yes, you can crawl through ventilation shafts, hack the one or the other terminal. But that seems and feels to constructed to suit the needs of the gameplay. Maybe because the places are so small. In addition the gameplay is nothing but a sequence of trial and error exercises. There is no strategy, no plan you can figure out to get past your opponents. Because the unusual dumb AI will contradict all your efforts. You'll try - and fail. More or less you'll pass AI opponents by chance. Very exhausting. It's very annoying that you can't peek around a corner... Another fun breaker to open a door and a guard is just walking by at this very moment (and, of course, will shoot you down). It is not possible to check if it's safe to open a door. It's just: open the door - and hope for the best. No sorry. This is tiring. There is a good reason why 'Deus Ex: Invisible War' has such an low reputation. It' boring, repetitive - and unfair (mostly because of poor AI behavior). I can't say much about the story - because I was to busy to reload saved games. But I guess it's equally boring like the gameplay. The positive about 'Deus Ex: Invisible War'? It's looking quite good and has some good lighting for a game that age. And it sounds pretty good. That's it.

Not great, but enjoyable

You take the role as the least interesting member of the Denton family, hot on the trail of terrorists who just destroyed your home and everything you hold dear with a cloud of pseudo-scientific nonsense. In your quest, you meet one ugly, forgettable character after another as you travel around the world picking up the sloppy seconds of the conspiracies laid bare by the first game. Harsh, perhaps, but the story and world-building this time around is nowhere near as compelling, especially if taken on its own merit without the first game. This entry veers more towards ultra-futuristic fantasy; the skills are dropped in favor of simplified "biomods", and ammo is universally shared between all weapons. This makes it less enticing to try different playstyles and there is no rare ammo to reward you for exploration. The combat is less sluggish than the first game, but many weapons feel underpowered and your nonlethal options are limited. That said, there is still enjoyment to be had. There is some quirky humor here and there, and the game is just engaging enough to keep you going. However, a lot hinges on nostalgia from the first game, especially when revisiting characters or locations. The idea of a black market for biomods adds an interesting touch on the game. This means another faction to deal with, and the enhancements are interesting. Ultimately, there seems little difference to which factions you side with until the final act of the game. This isn't much different from the first game, but the game gives you the illusion of pledging allegiance when it does not actually matter. Despite the flaws, I have played through this multiple times.

Mindless fun

If you expect any difficulty from this game, you shouldn't buy this game... it's mindless fun. Even though this game is criticized to death because it's not a good sequel or it's short areas, it's a great deal of fun. Pick it up if you just want to kick back and brutally murder the cities of Seattle and Cairo.
