will not play.
Don't buy it. the game will not load on newer CPUs. There is no help from GOG to get it running either.

micro-review
I strongly recommend playing the game without anyone dying by your hand (boss fights don't count) and without triggering any alarms, or the game might be too easy if you're looking for a challenge. The story is pretty good and you can approach levels in more than one way. Rating: We don't sell those kind of implants here, please move along. *Editors' Pick* https://pixelloot.com

Great story-wise, not great technically
Review for Steam version, probably the same for GOG. Director's Cut has constant FPS drops unforgivable for 2011 game that can well into DX11, the 1080p ultra settings barely takes 25% cores usage of "middle-class" GTX 1060 6GB. Anti-aliasing here does not do anything, everything is "dancing jaggies and blinky edges" on 1080p monitor. The only fix is to use in-game AA together with setting the resolution to 4k in regedit in Eidos/DXHR/Graphics registry folder. However, even though 4k to 1080p downscaling gives better quality image with only 80% GPU usage at a stable locked 50FPS, this makes HUD and text ridiculously small, since the "native" resolution for the game have been 720p from the beginning, not even 1080p.
