Took me a while to boot up this one but it was worth it.
We've come a long way in the field of "open world" and by comparison, this Detroit feels a whole lot cramped and somewhat small, but the story and side-quests keep you engaged well enough.
This version includes those sought-after AUD's so you can insta-hack some of the harder terminals.
On the bad side, this would greatly benefit from some sort of "HD mod" on the textures and i had to use Reshade to get rid of the famous "urine filter look" of the PS3 era. That look just really didn't age well...
Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Director’s Cut Review
⭐ Rating: 9.5/10 ⭐
A Cyberpunk Masterpiece That Stands the Test of Time
Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Director’s Cut is an absolute must-play for fans of immersive RPGs, stealth-action gameplay, and deep storytelling. Originally released in 2011 and refined in this definitive edition, the game seamlessly blends first-person shooting, tactical stealth, and meaningful player choices, all set in a beautifully realized cyberpunk world.
Story & Atmosphere – 10/10
The game puts you in the shoes of Adam Jensen, an ex-SWAT security specialist who is forced to undergo cybernetic augmentation after a devastating attack on his workplace. What follows is a gripping narrative filled with conspiracy, betrayal, and moral dilemmas that make you question what it truly means to be human. The world-building is phenomenal, with a dystopian setting that feels both futuristic and eerily realistic. Every conversation and decision matters, shaping how the story unfolds.
Gameplay & Choices – 9.5/10
Human Revolution gives you the freedom to tackle objectives however you choose—whether you want to be a ghost in the shadows, a lethal assassin, or a charismatic negotiator. The upgradable augmentations offer countless ways to play, from hacking security systems and leaping from rooftops to engaging in all-out combat.
One of the biggest improvements in the Director’s Cut is the reworked boss fights. Unlike the original version, where boss battles forced you into combat, this edition allows for stealth and hacking-based approaches, making the experience feel more aligned with player choice.
Visuals & Sound – 9/10
The golden-hued cyberpunk aesthetic is breathtaking, even years after release. Neon-lit cityscapes, corporate skyscrapers, and gritty backstreets all contribute to the immersive world. While the character models show their age slightly, the detailed environments more than make up for it.
The sound design and voice acting are superb. E
A couple annoyances here and there due to UI scaling but they're solvable with 3rd party tools. Same for the stutters that previously kept me from enjoying it, but it's all solvable now.
Love the game.
